Thoroughly enjoyed this. Very moving and awards worthy. Which prompts the question - why was Dev Patel only nominated as Supporting Actor for the Golden Globes? I'll never understand these idiosyncrasies...

Can anyone tell me why the person in the cafe window looked like Dev Patel? Even had the same moustache. I zoned out just then and awoke in Australia 25 years later! Was this some episode where Lion was seeing his future self eating soup? Or am I maybe reading too much into it. Also - did it just jump abruptly to Australia or did we see anything between the soup and then - the adoption process etc.?

An extremely emotional journey that is both moving and heart-breaking at the same time.
Some great performances from the whole cast and the cinematography was absolutely stunning.

Highly recommended. A great way to start 2017.

You've missed quite a bit to be honest. Might be worth another watch at some point!

Loved film-but slow in middle. Kids age 10 and 14 enjoyed it too.

I really loved this story, very moving especially knowing it was based on a true story. The acting was uniformly very good and the cinematography also warrants a special mention. Heart breaking at times to see these abandoned children being susceptible to evil people and all the more surprising that Saroo managed to escape and land up in a good home. Can recommend. 8/10

Agreed - it was about half an hour too long.

Apart from that i enjoyed.

Only annoyance at Manchester Lowry was amount of people coming i after it had started......at least 15-20, its time they started to turn people away if they cant get there on time :nono:

Totally agree re the latecomers as I was there, not only that they head for the back where there were very few seats and disrupt those trying to watch the film. If you are late you find the nearest seat and sit down to avoid disturbing others.

I really enjoyed the film despite the latecomers, second viewing for me and still found it almost as emotional.

we commented about this too - very distracting. as was the amount of people getting up and going to the toilet - hold it in people!!

Enjoyed the film though. Wasn't expecting subtitles - I usually hate them as I find it distracts from watching the picture, but as the talking was mostly in short sentences it wasn't an issue for me.

The pictures and film footage at the end was lovely. Hard to believe that this really happened.

Watched this last night.

I didn't think I would like this film very much. How wrong was I!!
Absolutely brilliant. The first half of the film was very well thought out and I was captivated from the very beginning.
Like others have said the second half didn't flow as well but still kept me interested.

Definitely need to take tissues with you, I don't think there was a dry eye in the cinema.

Good movie to start the new year 8/10
