Passengers

#1 Post by Yinster » Thu Jan 05, 2017 9:48 pm

Thinking of going to see this tomorrow. So was looking to see if I could see any discussions on here. But surprised there are none. So has anyone seen this yet?

It has taken a bit of a hammering in the press, but it is not at all that bad.

In fact there is much that is very good - including an unusually dark premise, which is what people may have taken exception to.

Some bits don't work - but it's certainly a 3.5 out of 5.

its ok for an end of year film but there is some severe dumbness in it, like no one thinks waking up people who can fix the ship is a good idea.

competing with interstellars and Martians doesn't do it favours. More of a slowburn Titanic in space.

I'm a big fan. Loved it far more than I did Interstellar and Gravity.

Would I make the same choice? Do I damn him for the choice he made? It gave me a lot to consider.

for me the best bit was the first 45 minutes of space dementia, with all those empty sweeping hallways devoid of life like a massive shopping centre at 6am. They shouldda kept that bit going a bit longer.

I really liked Passengers, the trailer is very deceptive as you think it's just a huge romance. It's not, the film actually has a huge dark side which tugs are your morals. Chris and Jennifer are brilliant. I even gave Lawrence and Michael brownie points. Overall a funny, dark, enjoyable film.

8/10

Saw this at the weekend. It was actually alright. Rom-com in space with some action. Some interesting issues of should he, shouldn't he and how to ruin someone's life without them knowing.

Did feel like a passenger.

Saw this today. Enjoyed it rather a lot. Much better than Gravity. As long as you remember its name believe and do t think if the science, you'll be fine. Laurence and Pratt have a very good on screen chemistry which helps the film immeasurably.
