Ahead of the full cinema release on March 31st, Ben Wheatley is planning to tour the film around the UK, with guest cast and crew members in attendance.

Aiming to offer as many people around the country the chance to see it, the tour kicks off in Truro on 25 January, then moves around the UK, finishing off in Brighton.

Saw this at the London Film Festival last October at the pop-up cinema in Embankment Gardens with director Ben Wheatley and Sharlto Copley hotfotting it from the screening at the Odeon Leicester Square to introduce the film.
In a festival packed with films straining for importance and meaning, the programmers of the LFF made the bold choice of ending it with a bang in the most straightforward way possible with this exhilarating and bloody extended shoot out.
Wheatley and wife/fellow screenwriter Amy Jump have no grand intentions with Free Fire other than offering up an exciting piece of action genre filmmaking.
So the story of a gun deal gone wrong in a deserted warehouse in 70s Boston, is simplicity itself. What makes the film the enjoyable experience it is, comes courtesy of an entertaining script that ensures that the lengthy shoot out is punctuated with funny one liners as the bickering continues while the bullets fly.
A ridiculously good cast impress with Cillian Murphy, Brie Larson, Armie Hammer, Sharlto Copley, Michael Smiley, Sam Riley, Noah Taylor, Jack Reynor and Enzo Cilenti all proof of the pull that Wheatley now has as an actor's director.
It would perhaps be unfair to pick anyone out of that line-up but Hammer and Copley are especially enjoyable to watch.
Not perhaps the John Woo inspired bullet ballet some may hope for, this is a down and dirty affair, where every gunshot wound matters, captured in a visceral and striking way by an on-form Laurie Rose.
Anyone hoping for depth will be disappointed, and there are the occasional moments where the film threatens to stall but fans of action cinema should hopefully find much to admire.
An enjoyable adrenaline rush of a movie.

I saw Free Fire awhile back at some film festival of which I forget the name. Ben Wheatley appeared on stage and told us that he co/writes scripts with his wife and how unfair it is that the director always gets the credit and the limelight but writers never do. He went on to say that he was able to cast Brie Larson because back then Room hadn't been released and she wasn't the big star she is today, so he got lucky.

Free Fire has a pretty impressive cast. The film is action heavy, slow action throughout, with some funny elements and contemplative pauses. I don't think it quite cuts it as an all action, fun film, it didn't really flow that well and the jokes weren't that funny, but it was nice to see Wheatley take on an action film for once.

Thanks missgotty for taking me. They had built a pop up cinema in Embankment Gardens, and it was quite impressive inside as it looked small outside. It was a very late Closing Screening, as we had to wait for the the director, Ben Wheatley and Sharlto Copley to come over from the screening at the Odeon Leicester Square, to introduce the film.

Could not understand why it is chosen as the Closing Film for the London Film Festival 2016. Seems a pointless film. The plot is weak and it is so repetitive. The Director of the LFF was totally gushing about it in the intro though.

When a deal goes wrong, the two groups just shoots each other or tries to survive. There is so much shooting, you lose track who is shooting who and I did not really care, and I do not think the characters themselves even remembers whose side they were on, since they were also seemingly shooting their own side too. The whole film is of them dragging their injured bodies along the ground trying to outwit each other to survive or kill each other. I supposed it is a black comedy, so in that sense some scenes seems really far fetched and could be regarded funny. It feels much longer than its's hour and half. 4/10

Oh my gosh, how I loved this film with it's mixture of snappy, witty banter and violence with some terrific acting from all involved.

As to be expected from a Ben Wheatley film, there are some strong scenes of violence which took me by surprise.

I saw it at an Odeon advance screening but can't wait to see it again on release.

One word review . . .shite!
Don't waste any money seeing this film . . .I couldn't think of anyone I know who would enjoy this film....but I notice that others have enjoyed the film and that's why we are all different!
