I decided to have a look at the film The Founder which tells the story of McDonald's of which I knew absolutely nothing. It's an interesting watch with Michael Keaton playing the part of Kroc who took over/stole the idea from the two McDonald brothers.
I loved the part on the tennis court when the brothers were trying to figure out the best layout
I felt engaged by the story and did have sympathy for the McDonald brothers but they were no match for the ambitions of Kroc. I have now looked online to see how true to life the film was . . .and it seems pretty close.
Marks 7/10
BTW if you want a laugh . . .I smuggled in a Burger King burger and fries to eat for my lunch as no McD's nearby!
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley
Others I'd go to: Glasgow Showcase Baillieston
Films already booked for:
Hope to get tickets for: Every film if they come to my preferred cinemas

I found it to be a decent watch and Keaton was good value. Maybe it's just me but I'm kind of surprised that people - and I've heard quite a few examples - have wanted to go and have a McD after seeing the film. I actually found it a little off putting

It shows the food in a good light and shady business practice so probably down to personal ethics?
Strange movie, it feels soft focus and like something that could be endorsed by the chain. It's a bit like when Oliver Stone made W. about George Bush and everybody thought it was going to be ruthless and it turned out fair, fluffy and harmless. Like McDonalds.
The movie itself is not dissimilar to the recent Gold, it's like they followed the same recipe but Gold went a more traditional route whereas Founder is powder puff and needs an added ingredient.

OMG. I always think the mark of a good actor is that you can still love him but hate the character he portrays.
What a shit Kroc was. To be fair the brothers would've driven me nuts at times too.
Re: the tennis court. I hope they cleaned up after themselves. I had visions of someone coming to play tennis and being totally bewildered!
Also
You just knew Kroc was going to renege on the handshake deal.

i liked the text at the end, makes the behaviour from the founder acceptable.

Michael Keaton was brilliant in this film. It has a really intriguing storyline. I'm not sure what the message this film is trying to send out as how Ray Kroc became successful had some questionable ethics.
Overall 7.8/10

Great to see Keaton on screen even if it is a surprisingly niche piece of 20th century history.
It is very well handled, when it could have become rather dry and dull.

I saw this in New Zealand last year. I really enjoyed it as it was fascinating to see how it all evolved. I thought Zmichael Keaton was very good. Good film.
