90% loved it - but Luke Evans was just really annoying.

A little apprehensive of seeing this,

Cinderella, Jungle Book & Petes Dragon are yes a modern retelling. Are Disney simply trying to ride a new sequel wave?

Thoughts please.

It's not a sequel to anything. It's the same story as the animated film but in live action form.

10 out of 10
Fantastic version of a childhood classic. Kept to a winning formula mostly with the small additions/changes enhancing an already fabulous film.
Casting was excellent, was unsure of Emma Watson at first but she did a fabulous job!
A great film!!!!!!!!

I am not really into this film... I like the animated version and want this to stay like that

Are there any scary moments (for a 6 six year old)?

You're probably best off reading Insight on the BBFC website then you can make an informed decision.

took myself to see this last week as unable to borrow a child from anyone to take. I felt it was like being at a play rather than a film. I did enjoy this but am a big Disney fan so couldn't go far wrong. Did actually prefer the Prince when he was Beast I have to say

I'm not sure which version I preferred the most! That's saying something considering the animation was a part of my childhood.
Great cast and performances, especially from Luke Evans and Josh Gad.
Did not stray too far from the original but had some differences to keep it fresh. E.G the use of more basic library (in the village) was useful is emphasising the vastness of the Beast's library.
Visually pleasing.
I'd rate it at 8/10
