Enjoyed this gentle film. It will never win any awards but gave some insight to the difficulties of trying to promote morale for the public during WWII. There was a reasonable mixture of serious and humour with most of the humour coming from the wonderful Bill Nighy....I couldn't imagine anyone but him in this role.
Marks 6.5/10

For the first hour or so this felt slight if not enjoyable mainly due to a hilarious scene stealing performance from Bill Nighy

But as the story unfolded and the realities of war slowly took centre stage then it became very moving, whilst still keeping the odd laugh along the way

Surprisingly good, very funny and moving as well 8/10

Went to see Their Finest on Monday. I really enjoyed it. One of the best previews I have seen over last 6 months, thanks to your website.

It's a crowd pleaser I suppose, I found it a bit of a mixed bag. Never quite funny enough and always a bit too predictable. Bill Nighy does what Bill Nighy does and he does it well so I did enjoy his performance

Off to see this on Tuesday, have read lots of good things and shall post my review once I've enjoyed the film.

Not reading too far for spoilers

I was disappointed as I found this a fairly dull film with some very corny scriptwriting (ironically), and I don't mean in the film being made in the storyline. It didn't even have a positive ending to liven things up a bit, but instead left us with a pointless tragedy. So from me, it's a 3/10

Saw this is the newly refurbished Wandsworth Cineworld. Haven’t been there for over a year and was very impressed with the cinema. The film, however, was a bit of a let-down. I had seen the trailer, which featured a lot of Bill Nighy and this really made me want to go and see it. However most of the funny lines were spoken by Bill Nighy and most of these were in the trailer. Thus the film was not as engaging as I thought it was going to be. Disappointed, as it could have been one of those great British films like Love Actually or Notting Hill etc but missed the mark. 6/10

Bill Nighy's performance was the best thing about this film for me. The period detail was outstanding.

The death near the end was unnecessary in what was generally, given the setting, an uplifting film. 7/10

To be honest I wasn't expecting much at all from this film but despite its slow start it evolved into a thoroughly enjoyable film.

Bill Nighy's comedic moments were brilliant. I wasn't particularly taken by Gemma Arteton's Welsh accent at first but it did grow on me.

A worthy watch but I agree with a previous comment that this would be more suited to a Sunday night BBC 2 film as unfortunately I can't see many people going out of their way to watch this film.

7/10

Saw this at a Picturehouse members' preview this morning and found it so boring that I fell asleep, only waking myself up with my snoring.

Bill Nighy was great but he always is, and he sings very nicely indeed. But to be honest, I think I would have preferred to watch the film they made rather than this one.

It probably didn't help that I rewatched The Imitation Game last night, a film about the same historical period, but oh so much better.
