Fast and Furious 8

#1 Post by prettyxcool » Thu Apr 13, 2017 12:28 am

Really enjoyed this fast and tense action film. The car racing is really thrilling. Both Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel are looking good. Hunky men with heart. Plot is a bit all over the place though and quite long, with Charlize Theron doing another baddie role. Loved Helen Mirren and Jason Statham in this. Deja vue with Scott Eastwood (spitting image of his Dad, Clint). 8/10

Definitely needs to be seen on the biggest screen. Lucky to be invited by SFF as a guest for this preview at Cineworld Leicester Square - saw it on the IMAX screen. There were two guests lists, one SFF and one Universal.

We were given plenty of hotdogs, tubs of mac and cheese, beer, wine and water, before the screening.

Really enjoyed this film much more than I expected as I wasn't too keen on the past few films in the franchise. The story was reasonably good and the chases were better than usual.

Closely following the well-established template of the previous 7 films, Fast & Furious 8 is obnoxiously loud, completely over the top, ludicrously sexist, devoid of anything closely approaching logic, dumber than an industrial-sized bag of hammers and yet, despite (or perhaps because) of all that, enormously enjoyable.
If you're familiar with it already you'll know if it's for you or not. For better or worse it is very much for me.
Also, if you've ever wanted to see the Mitchell Family from Eastenders play a significant part in a brainless action movie then this one's for you.

On the downside, the makers of the film clearly missed a trick in not giving it the subtitle ': The Devil's Bumhole'.

I loved this. Complete and utter nonsense and brain wiping 2 hours, loved it!! Yes, it s sexist, ridiculous etc etc and very very cheesy. I too thought I was watching Eastenders at one point. Can't but help think Barbara Windsor would have been better than Helen Mirren!!

It's miles better than the last one, mainly due to Vin Diesel getting very little screen time. His cheesy one-liners only hold the franchise back so only having to hear a few of them was a blessing. It's also very funny-which was a surprise- thanks to Tyrese Gibson, his comedic timing is practically golden. Helen Mirren's cockney accent could do with a bit of work but aside from that she was alright. Overall, it deserves a solid 3/5. If you're a lover of the Fast and Furious franchise, then give this one a watch

no Promise at wimbledon so they let me watch this instead. In IMAX. Dumb but awesome! 4 stars. Not sure where they keep coming up with new ideas for this franchise, but theres plenty more here.

I loved it. It was super cheesy, and very similar to the other 7 films, but I still really enjoyed all the action. Vin Diesel was amazing as always and the final touch, where he named the baby after Bryan was very sweet.
