Baywatch

#1 Post by Jayman » Fri May 19, 2017 2:22 pm

So nobody's going to admit to having watched this drivel last night?

Ok, I'll go first. It's stupid, erratically directed and painfully, horrendously unfunny.
The crowd in my cinema mildly seemed to enjoy it with a few scattered giggles here and there.

Interesting that Zardu Hasselfrau and Pamela Anderson are listed in the opening credits for approximately 1 minute of combined screen-time.

3/10

I have to agree, totally awful, devoid of any humour with some cringeworthy performances, the special effects for a Hollywood blockbuster were terrible. Must be a contender for one of the worst films of the year, saying that I've just came out of Snatched and if you thought Baywatch was bad Snatched is even worse, if that's possible.

Baywatch made Chips seem like a masterpiece of cinema.

2/10 and only because Snatched is 1/10

I must admit I quite enjoyed it. It was silly but I did find it quite amusing. I don't think I was expecting too much so that probably helps. I found it entertaining and just went with the flow. I've seen Snatched and thought it was actually quite funny. If you think Baywatch is bad then see Mindhorn which to me seemed really awful. I remember thinking while I watched Mindhorn that it was supposed to be a comedy and yet I felt like I was sitting in a library not a titter. There were some laugh out loud moments in Baywatch and lots of entertaining scenarios. Probably give it 6/10

I sat through this film.
It ran beyond feature length requirements, far too far beyond, and offered no plot for the entire first hour.
The first hour also offered a few side characters that had funny moments.
Then the Dwayne/Zac show began, and it was vulgar for no reason, boring beyond belief narratively and paced as glacially as possible for a film full of explosions and chases.
Not good.
Not good.

What did you expect?
Eh - did you ever see the 80s TV show? Ok - no-one was expecting Hassel Davidoff or Pam Anderson, but not a lame "comedy". They ruined CHiPS in the same way. What's next? Columbo played by Keith Lemon? The Professionals played by The Chuckle Brothers?
Maybe they could also ruin some comedies by playing them straight. Or a musical version of Poldark? Or The Rockford Files as an opera starring Wee Jimmy Krankie?

I watched it on Thursday and pretty sure my colleagues and I were laughing the loudest (apologies to those around us because we were probably like a bunch of annoying kids). Loved the name calling from The Rock to Zac Efron.

I'll give it 6.9/10 because they made a great job of making it stupid and cheesy. If you need a good laugh, watch this.
