Same gripes from me, it dragged on a bit overall but I did enjoy it and it was a nice story. I'm not familiar with the comedian so was surprised to find he played himself. I found him a little wooden at times, especially in some of the hospital scenes. 7/10

It'd be interesting to see it made with your sense of humour Biggins.

I saw this today as I was slightly curious and reckoned that it would not last beyond this week ( already confirmed as next week it only has one late evening screening at Odeon Braehead).
I found the film over long and agree with biggins that the stand up humour was poor though I do think (or maybe, hope) that this was intentional ie none of them were actually going to make a living in stand up. I would much have preferred a film which merely looked at the situation faced by 2nd generation westernised young people where their parents are still stuck in a different culture and want to keep up traditions. I think that with Emily's situation would have made a good film.
I'm glad I've seen it but can't imagine I'll ever watch it again.

Ps I thought I'd give you a laugh . . .I had to edit the post as my reference to biggins became big guns! Lol Sorry, biggins!

We have a good sense of humour McG. The stand up comedy in this film made me think of some of the comedy acts in the fringe festival which can be pretty dire. :X

Its biographical though Bigs, so if you made this movie with your humour, it'd be a reverse of the plot cos you'd be recounting how you once dated an Asian. It'd be called the Biggins Sikh.

I've been to comedy clubs where people are starting out and often their routine is hit or miss. I thought the film reflected that world accurately.

I was keen to see this, but it was a struggle to find a screening this week. There were lots of late night/morning showings or some cinemas not showing it all, but I'm glad I did.

It's gentle, enjoyable, although not hilarious, but even at 2 hours feels less baggy than a usual Judd Apatow production and there's definitely seemed to be less improv.

It was fun to get the know the couple as they started dating and even though it was a shame Zoe Kazan was missing for half the film Holly Hunter and Ray Romano were on great form in the second half. 7.5/10

I really enjoyed this. I was very worried at first because I'm not keen on American comedy but it was very funny. Some great actors, especially the girl's parents. My favourite scene is when the mum heckles during the stand up. I watched it when the Q&A was on afterwards. It's definitely worth a watch.
