slowburning epic, excellent. 4 stars. The first act is quite ponderous but stick with it, its deliberately slow. CGI is unbelievably good.

Minor criticisms - can be hard to empathize with CGI apes and some of the characters are 2 dimensional, perhaps that has put people off. Woody Harrelson was bland, it needed a better villain. And the "war" you get isnt what you expected. The film is not predictable in plot even if the outcome is entirely predictable (inevitablY).

I was also expecting a crazier ending akin to the original movie, a la "you maniacs! You finally went and did it. You apes built a replica of the Statue of Liberty damn you!" or however it went, cant quite remember exactly. But we didn't get anything quite like that.

I had no issue with the pace of the film, thought it was great. I actually prefered to see Ceaser and chums off on their mission rather than all out war for 2 hours. The story behind the Colonel and his plans was a little bizarre but allowed all other elements to thrive. Apes look amazing as always. Great end to a brilliant trilogy 9/10

I thought this was very good, but think I prefer Dawn at the moment.

It's stunning to look at, full of ideas and feels a million miles away from some other summer blockbusters.

But the Colonel character does feel a bit one dimensional, especially compared to Caesar and even though Woody is a fine actor I couldn't really b*y him as being evil.

It also feels a bit clunky at times, the humans being more or less ruthless depending on what the plot required and likewise the conveniently poor guarding of the camp at some points.

But I'm glad it tried so much rather than play it safe, even though it didn't quite live up to my high expectations on my first viewing. I'm sure this will go up when I watch it again, but for now it was 7/10

I liked it and there were plenty of nods to the original Charlton Heston apes movies.

It's a strange one, there's a whole planet and it's just full of apes!

I don't like the first two movies, Rise is full of convenient coincidences and weird touches, Dawn is full of bad decisions and stupid humans. This almost feels like an antidote to those as it's so slick and haired back.

It's a pity it follows a recent trend of making a reference and then literally spelling it out.

I just did a monkey joke! Oh and I thought it went a bit ape-ocalypse now before the writing was on the wall and while I'm in spoilers, the avalanche at the end was far too convenient.
But it's beautifully made with real invention and uses such a dark palette and frequent subtitles that it should be seen on the big screen.
