War for the Planet of the apes!
War for the Planet of the apes!
Saw this movie yesterday and just stunned at the sheer idiocy of the movie. Hands down it's the worst sequel of a trilogy ever.
The story is almost a one liner, movie pnderously paced and the whole setting was so amateurish it was shocking.
The movie could easily be shortened byhalf and even then would be the pits.
The first two in the trilogy now look like claasics.
How can you make a movie so bad????!

Oh dear, looks like this third helping has gone downhill like the original films did. Shame, as I was looking forward to it.

Re: War for the Planet of the apes!
saw this last night in westfield, best one out of the trilogy, but the title is a bit misleading...
didnt like the epilogue tho, and the fact that the end credits had no "house lights" signal/timing till the whole credits finished...???
(that means the cinema stays dark till the whole credits are over)
the 3d was great, will prob catch it again in the new referb vue in west end.
it didnt feel as long as it actually is, which i think is a good thing.
8/10

Re: War for the Planet of the apes!
I cried my eyes out, must have been in a very emotional state of mind!
I loved Bad Ape, a much needed bit of lightness amongst the grimness.
I personally think that the series could go on, seeing that

Re: War for the Planet of the Apes
Director Matt Reeves sees out his part in the Planet of the Apes trilogy in considerable style with the thrilling and emotional War for the Planet of the Apes.
The film starts with Caesar and the apes on the run from a human army led by a ruthless and determined Colonel (Woody Harrelson).
After tragedy hits the ape's mountain hideout his hands, Caesar sets out on a path towards revenge.
An impressive blockbuster that is equally adept at delivering emotionally involving characters as it is at mounting exciting and visually exciting set pieces, WftPotA is a satisfying and fitting end to the trilogy. Obviously you can't rule out more films in this profitable series and the ending is certainly left open for that possibility.
Strong mocap and vocal work from Andy Serkis with a little help from Weta digital ensures that Caesar remains a strong and compelling protagonist. Though special mention should also go to Karin Konoval as Maurice and Steve Zahn as newcomer to the franchise Bad Ape.
Woody Harrelson is also a solid and watchable villain even if he leans a little too heavily on Brando's Colonel Kurtz for inspiration.
It's arguable that it might have been nice to have seen a little more of the 'war' that the title promises and the pace suffers a little due to a lull in the action over an hour in. Thankfully the film rouses itself for a gripping and action-packed finale.
Michael Giacchino's stirring score is also the icing on the cake on a very fine film.
Go see on the biggest screen you can

Re: War for the Planet of the apes!
I went to see this on Thursday (using my first ticket from Tesco offer on cinema deals thread), had to see in 3D as no 2D showings at Vue until next week, but it was worth the £1 I pa*d to upgrade. I am glad I decided to see as after reading the first post of this thread I had a few doubts, but decided to see for myself and am so glad I did. I would definitely recommend, the 3D was good and I liked the new ape they found along the way, a good mix of emotions. 8.5/10 from me.

Bad Ape
I have to agree, for probably the second time in my life, I thought the 3D was fantastic. Even though I was in one of the crappy screens in Leicester Square
