Interesting story, but the acting felt a little flat and it felt really, really long and bleak! The building up to the tension was just not there, it was so dull. The chemistry just was not there either. And what is it with all the British and Irish actors being Russians, with their accents going all over the place? Also, I could see the twist and ending a mile off. 5/10 My OH liked it though, giving it 7/10

Vue Islington was packed again for Sky's screening. They really need to find a bigger screen to replace the Sky Superscreen that they used to use at the 02 Cineworld. Also, Sky members are always so early too. I arrived at 5.45pm and it was already quite full! Do they not have anything better to do then to come so early ;)

Solid, great to see a cast like Rampling/irons ect in a big movie in this day and age.

Held the time well and some good action.

A surprising 8/10

One word would summarise this film "disappointment". The poster gave me high hopes but the delivery of the storyline and acting really shattered everything. So what kind of spy is both vulnerable and powerful at the same time? More than powerful actually that is actually vulnerable with extraordinary manipulating skills! She couldn't see through her boyfriend's cheating (ok love is blind) but she managed to deploy a perfect trap right from the start!? (Ok we learn fast but not this type of learning!) JL has made a poor decision to get on board with this film and I guess tried to do her best but failed dramatically and I must say the storyline wasn't the only one to blame here. For somebody who is meant to be a professional dancer she managed to express only one feeling through her face "my life is ****"! And you have to endure this pain for too long (many bits could have been edited to make the film wayyyy shorter).

So avoid. Rate 1/10 (1 only for the brilliant opening sequence in the theater)

Too complicated a film plot for me. Instead of enjoying the film I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what was going on. It is not the worst film I’ve ever seen, however, I would not recommend it.

Hmmmmmm way to many flaws, things just didn't add up. Even Jeremy Irons gave up in the end and just went with his British accent instead of Russian. Way too long 6/10

I quite enjoyed this film even though there were times when I wasn't quite sure who was on which side and my other half kept asking me to explain what was going on as she couldn't follow the twists and turns lol. I didn't see the twist at the end coming and was surprised at the end to find that 2 and a half hours had past.
Agree about there been several unnecessary nudity scenes.

Films seen this year :
Darkest Hour;
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri;
Ladybird.
I, Tonya;
Love, Simon;
Red Sparrow

Have tickets to see: - nothing at the moment

I enjoyed this, especially the violence! I agree about the nudity and necessity for it but I guess they were trying to set the scene? Loved the ending, didn't see that coming. I won't mess with the Russians after watching that, not that I would've done anyway. Are the CIA really this moral? They definitely got the mistakes the CIA make correct.

I’m still not sure what to think of the film. I think I’m in the middle as there is bits I liked and some I didn’t. I did like that the idea of the film wasn’t to be the usual sexy spy film, but to show the abusing,
torturous, disgusting side of it. I like gory so that part was cool. I think the story itself was good just maybe not done to its full potential, the film was long and still there was people leaving the cinema still confused about certain plot details. It’s the type of film that if you blink you will miss the whole story.
As much as I love Jennifer Lawrence I think the film had been better with an actual Russian actresss,
Not just for her role but for all the Russian people. They all kept coming in and out of their accents and was really annoying. Jennifer said she actually felt very empowered doing the nude scenes and that the Director (same from hunger Games last 3 films) made sure she won’t do anything she didn’t want to do and he told her that she would be the first one to see the cut of The film, ahead of producers, in case she didn’t like something then he will change it. Which is cool as most of the time directors don’t care about things like that (a few accounts of niple slips ending up in final films when it wasn’t supposed to).
So yeah I still don’t know if I liked it or not. I think I’m just like ‘it was okay’.
