A Quiet Place

#1 Post by prettyxcool » Fri Apr 06, 2018 1:02 am

Saw a fan screening at Curzon Soho tonight, with a Q&A with John Krasinski, Emily Blunt and Noah Jupe, and a drinks reception afterwards, the bar decorated with scenery from the film, and wine glasses made of "rubber", quite hard to drink from, as they were floppy and soft!

Such a good story. We follow a family of four trying to survive in a world where they must not make a sound otherwise blind creatures can hear them.... you will silently shush the characters on screen.

Chilling, intense and heartfelt. So well cast with John Krasinski, his real life wife, Emily Blunt, and the kids, played by Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds (recently seen in Wonderstruck).

A must see! 10/10

Very impressed by John Krasinski's A Quiet Place. A concise and effective horror about a family trying to survive quietly in rural America from blind creatures that hunt by sound.

A neat premise that offers up plenty of tense nail-biting sequences without losing sight of the strong emotional weight at its centre.
It's this latter, surprising, aspect of the film that makes it a cut above your average horror fare.

The existing relationship between real life husband and wife (and parents) Krasinski and Emily Blunt probably doesn't hurt either in building up characters you really care about but they are well matched by Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe as their kids.

Definitely worth a look.

(Maybe producer Michael Bay could also take note. I watched his recent, bloated and nonsensical Transformers offering earlier the same day (unrelated, I didn't know he produced this until the end credits) and this film's less is more approach is far more interesting and palatable).

There was someone whispering at one point when I watched it. I turned and whispered "who is talking?". Two fingers (one either side) pointed at the miscreant. I'd have laughed at any other time. Thankfully the whispered stopped lol

Excellent film not one to be missed. More suspenseful than scarey although as previously stated you do find yourself holding your breath and frightened to make a sound either incase you encourage the creatures. Superbly acted especially Emily Blunt in the bathroom scene although all the cast were magnificent. The family in the film were extremely resourceful. I wonder how long I would last in such conditions. Highly recommended. 9/10

I had never heard of the film until Tuesday when checking the new listings and as I had never heard of the film before looked at the trailer and added to my list of films I wanted to see. When I was at Cineworld on Wednesday they had a trailer just before the film started, which seemed to be in conjuntion to the film, where the people were trying to eat popcorn and drink pop without a sound, which was quite amusing, especially when one made a noise 8O After seeing the reviews on here I went to see it today found it very intense and totally agree with all the comments and would definitely recommend. One of my favourite films so far this year.

Just saw this film this afternoon - it was really good. I kept hitting my son on the scary bits - actually it was when the suspense was climbing
