If you don’t know the full history of Freddie, you’ll probably enjoy Rami’s performance(minus the fake teeth) which gets very emotional towards the end. That’s when he truly grows into the role. However,if you know the full story you might be disappointed as this seems to be the PG13 version of a Rockstar’s life. It’s clear that the rest of the band wanted to have their moment in the spotlight, but if Sacha Baron Cohen got to play the Mercury he wanted we would have gotten a whole different film.

Totally did not expect such an emotional rollercoaster! I laughed and I cried. I wished someone had told me to bring my hankies! The tears did not stop rolling, I was such a mess!

I really enjoyed the film and really wanted to get up and stomp and clap, and sing along too!

I love the music and songs of the Queen, thought the lead was so good as Freddie Mercury, except his teeth seemed too goofy, it was not something I had noticed of the real Freddie Mercury that much. The whole film felt very surreal living through those times again, and like seeing Freddie Mercury "alive" again on screen. He was so talented, and such a shame his life was cut short.

The actor playing Bob Geldorf did make me laugh. He was a chubbier and less scruffy version, and, I felt, so poorly played. IMO, he just did not have the same conviction as Sir Bob's eccentric and relax air, bless him.

You are so right, I do not know anything about Freddie Mercury, so really loved it. I did feel it was very PG too, but nevertheless, it entertained me.

I liked it but I wish it was either more authentic or more Hollywood, it could have been based on the real life story with unknown actors cast for their resemblance or they could admit it's just fantasy and take even more liberties with the story.

Instead we get a weird mix of the two and a lot of famous faces in bad makeup and costume. Malek literally grows in to the role because his mustachioed Mercury is great while his clean shaven mouth struggles to contain the fake teeth.

The crowd scenes were really well staged but I was surprised it wasn't even more musical, especially when some of the lyrics seem so prescient now. Maybe we'll see another version in the future.

Freddie Mercury was a unicorn, but Malek incorporates him so well that I got goosebumps.
We lost a great, great artist in 1991.
