Aquaman

#1 Post by tonethestone » Tue Dec 11, 2018 8:04 pm

I’m not a big fan of recent DC movies, Tbf not sure many are, the Justice League movie was abysmal. This sadly isn’t much better, decent cast ruined by so much CGI it gave me a headache. Ending bizarre. They need scrap the DC plans and start again.

1.5/5

And there was me thinking how much I loved the beautiful special effects.
Highly enjoyable film. Jason Momoa is a wonderful Aquaman and I loved finding out the character's back story.

the most expensive longest shampoo advert ever.

serious though I am suprised noone has noticed that this is really a dumbed down black panther remake but with scandi-euros, twice the effects and thrice the dumbassness. Oh it is at times so thickbrick, you wonder if a storyboard was actually planned for it. The villains (I think one of them is literally called "Umm" wtf) are absymally miscast and written so its lucky that Momoa is a surprisingly good lead as is his Little Mermaid his co-lead. Plus it looks jaw-dropping in 3d imax though so i'd watch it there.

3.5 stars.

Saw this at ScreenX. We went with zero expectations and it was quite enjoyable. Liked the ScreenX effect but there were so many parts that didn't use the 'side screens' where I felt like they should have......meh

6/10 for me (7 if they had gone full blast ScreenX)
8/10 for him (who just scoffed the last aldi mince pie. Grrr)

Saw this in 3D at Vue West End, with some due to expire Vue vouchers, and was horrified that the tickets cost a whopping total of £48! Good job, I had my vouchers then!

After all the doom and gloom of the Marvel films, it is nice to see a film that is bright and magical, with a fascinating and imaginative underwater world. Although the story is a bit naff and full of loop holes, Jason Momoa makes a great Aquaman, an underwater "Thor" with a flirty mane of hair (now Thor has lost his, he is just not the same), as well as it seems an obligatory half brother.

It is great fun, a tongue in cheek, mer-man! An optimistic, anti-hero with a huge smile, and great to see strong female leads, not just a love interest.

I would watch again, just to see Jason Momoa o/

Saw this seafood spectacular again in 2D. I never have seen so many SFX in one movie, its a almost a constant barrage for 80% of the movie. Its great to look tat, even if the story and villains are weak. This is surely a theme in Justin Wan films, I dont think he even bothers much with a story or villain, deliberately, he just wants to put on a show.
