I have to be honest, when I heard what the film was called, I sighed and thought I don't need a family drama, thank you. Then I saw a trailer with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in it and I was hooked. I couldn't get a ticket to the Seeitfirst previews but then Picturehouses put on a free members' preview this morning.

What can I say - I loved it. This film is incredibly engaging, and even though I know nothing about wrestling or how much is staged, I was behind Paige and her family all the way. Her journey is believable, and while she is the underdog British girl from Norwich ("Norrich!"), competing against the blonde ex-model/cheerleader girls, she learns not to judge a book by its cover and that they aren't just "ass and tits" either. The film is extremely funny, and the very first scene where the brother and sister scrap and you see the reaction of their parents tells you that this is no conventional family. There is the once suicidal mother, the ex-con father ("mainly violence"), hilariously played by Nick Frost, and the brother with the young family who doesn't cope well with her success at first, but finds his place as a wrestling trainer for teenagers, including a blind kid. Stay for the credits, as you will see footage of the real family.

9/10

Great film, really enjoyed the story of the struggle of Paige to make it in the WWE, The Rock was really good as well.

Not really my sort of film, more a popcorn film, wasn't bad by any stretch, but instantly forgettable. Some nice cameos which is the best part of the film, just found too much overacting in parts, bit like Wrestling itself. Actually found Nick Frost to be the weak link in this. 2/5.
Upcoming films want to see;
Top Gun Maverick
MI 7 & 8
The Many Saints of Newark
Ghostbusters : Afterlife

Best films seen recently;
Tenet
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
In The Heights
A Quiet Place 2

Enjoyed this much more than I thought I would and even better when I realised that it was actually based on a true story which I did not know until the end credits. An entertaining film and probably worth a watch.

Also, first time for me to go and see a free film and appreciate the efforts to those that make this possible.

My 10 year is a big WWE fan and absolutely loved the film he rated it 10/10

I would say to some younger children the language can be a little inquisitive and I heard many children mimic these words later in the cinema i.e. "What is a Penis" i guess they just find this kind of humour amazing...

All in all good film, i would personally rate it 7/10

...and The Academy award for the movie with the most mentions of the word "penis" goes to.....

This was fun. Worth a watch. Very accurate to the real people and even the family's front room looked the same as their real one. The only thing different seemed to be Nick Frost's stupid beard-creature. Very convincing wrestling performances - even though wrestling is a "performance" compared to say boxing or other martial arts.

Not something I would have chosen to p*y for at all, but I really enjoyed it and glad I saw it.

A few young kids watching this which was a bit too old for them as they got bored quickly. Not my type of film but better than expected with some LOL moments. Nice to see the real people at the end credits. The dog looked amazing like the real one!!!!
