Ad Astra

#1 Post by raj101 » Sun Oct 06, 2019 6:04 pm

Fudgey nonsense, avoid. Nothing really works here apart from when finally (if you hadnt walked out by then) tommy lee turns up for a bit, but even thats a let down ultimately.

Effects are good, I guess.

Feels like Hollywood saw an euro arthouse sci fi movie and tried to "Orange Wednesday director" it. Why is it even called Ad Astra,(towards the stars) when it never leaves the solar system?

The take home message is the obvious "if you go looking for life out there, you miss out on your life back home". No shyt, Sherlock. Thats not even a spoiler, its so obvious.

2nd true turkey of the year, 1/5

It's definitely nothing special and you're missing nothing if you don't see it. It's long . . .and, I hate to say, almost boring.
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley
Others I'd go to: Glasgow Showcase Baillieston

It was quite a long film for a very obvious ending.... Nothing much surprising, the plot is pretty thin and even the amazing CGI and other visual effects can't really save the day. I find it sad that such a good cast ended up in such a boring film.
