Frozen 2

#1 Post by tonethestone » Sat Nov 16, 2019 5:50 pm

Wasn’t that much of a fan of the first film, was decent but not a patch on other recent Disney films like Zootropolis or Big Hero 6.

This is more of the same, decent songs, but the story is nowhere near as good as the first, darks an unnecessary dark turn, gets a tad confusing and the reasons for a certain decision made is baffling.

No more of these films needed. 2/5.
Upcoming films want to see;
Top Gun Maverick
MI 7 & 8
The Many Saints of Newark
Ghostbusters : Afterlife

Best films seen recently;
Tenet
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
In The Heights
A Quiet Place 2

Just watched Frozen 2. I loved the first film but not so much this film. It's definitely not for a young children unlike the first one. I would almost say it's aimed at the children who watched the first film who are now 6 years older. I'd say it's aimed at children aged 8 plus. Yound children at the screening I watched were definitely not hooked and we'd even some crying and screaming.
I did enjoy the songs but none are memorable after leaving the cinema so definitely no " Do you want to build a snowman?" which is a shame though it is referred to once.
Marks 7.5/10
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley
Others I'd go to: Glasgow Showcase Baillieston

Songs aren't as good as the first one's, but I found the story much more interesting this time. 4/5

Saw a preview of this at the BFI. Really enjoyed it, though I understand why some people don't. It's a lot "darker" than the first one for sure, more "mature" in a way, which I appreciated. I loved the first one, and wasn't disappointed by this sequel, unlike other Disney sequels.
I was surprised to see so many young kids (and even babies!) though, as I was under the impression that there was a minimum age to enter a cinema, but perhaps this is only valid in France 🤷‍♀️. That said, all were very well behaved, no shouting/crying/talking during the movie, and I have to applaud that, because I did brace myself at the beginning for a very painful screening.

No minimum age, which is why cinemas have showings you can take babies to. Frozen II ist rated U for Universal, and my screening was full of wriggling, talking, screeching and coughing children. I wish they did Adult only screenings for this!

Anyway, I had ear plugs and a good seat, and the film was very charming. Not quite as good as the first one, and the songs not as memorable, but the sisterly love was palpable. Nothing is going to stop those two, not even bumbling men, reindeer and snowmen. :)

I think the first film was brilliant because it was so unexpected, the songs, the drama, the twists and turns. I took my niece to see it but I was gripped from the start and had to stop myself from swearing out loud in a room full of kids when Han revealed his real side therefore Frozen 2 had a lot to live up to in my eyes, the children loved it songs not as memorable but it was still excellent and worth the wait.
