Emma (2020)

#1 Post by Moviemad31 » Sun Feb 16, 2020 8:09 pm

Saw this today thankfully did not spend money on it as an austen fan i was disappointed with this version even the proposal from mr knightley was spoiled and how the story was told fell flat for me. I much prefer the original film version and also enjoy kate beckinsale in the role. Don't waste your money 4/10.

I loved it. Great fun and the most beautiful costumes. Ok it may not match up to Jane Austen's writing or previous films but, nonetheless, it was delightful. We are all different and have different expectations of films but I will see this again in the next day or 2 with friends.
Marks 8.5/10

Oh, I forgot, I saw this too on Friday as a Valentine's treat to myself.

Loved that it was funny, but Mr Knightley looked a bit like a thug, and I am glad not to have lived back then. Hard to feel that they aren't all silly sops falling in and out of love every five minutes, when a kind look is cast their way! And Emma was unkind one time, geez, no point to get so upset.

Bill Nighy stole the show every time!

Altogether a pleasant way of spending two hours but doesn't exactly stay in the mind.

Don’t particularly like period dramas, find theyre all very similar, this one does nothing new, found it awkwardly acted, the lead was all over the place. Defo one to miss. 1.5/5
Upcoming films want to see;
Top Gun Maverick
MI 7 & 8
The Many Saints of Newark
Ghostbusters : Afterlife

Best films seen recently;
Tenet
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
In The Heights
A Quiet Place 2

Big Austen fan myself, I knew from the trailer this movie would just be a huge joke - wasn’t wrong at all on that!
Saw it last Sunday, and thankfully didn’t p*y for it, otherwise it’s clear I would have waited to see it on TV or VOD platforms.

Had to pinch myself to stop myself falling asleep. Failed. At one point there was a conversation which related to something I had no idea had happened.

Glad I've got Limitless and hadn't forked out for it specifically.
