If you've had your jabs a few weeks ago, this is not a bad time to try out the cinema as it is basically empty anyway.
This movie is not an inappropriate return as well, the bleakness of the scenery and events wont be that far removed from real life financial situations for some.
Although I dont quite get what the lead did at the ending, Fern feels a pretty genuine character all the way through and its obviously based on real events.
You might want to keep spending tight at the moment, don't go splurge your money on non necessities like movies too much guys, but this is one cap that fits the current mood, it will keep your feet on the ground. Because, really hope not, but you might end up living it if you dont be careful now. Dont be a Fern!

Re: Nomadland
I thought it was beautifully shot and also gave a real picture of that life. But i did find it a bit slow at times.
Re: Nomadland
I saw this on Sunday with daughter and son at Islington Vue. My first cinema trip since February 2020 when I saw my last film at the same venue. There were only about 8 of us in the cinema.
I thought the film was very moving and wonderful performances all round. Frances McDormand was, as always, superb. This was part of my birthday weekend -- I turned 70 on Saturday -- and son apologised for suggesting such a sombre, bleak film but I thought it was well worth seeing and I felt very glad to be back in the cinema and not on the sofa.

Re: Nomadland
Oh my God, I missed your birthday and it's in my calendar! To be fair, I was in Germany the last two weeks but many happy belated returns!
I saw this film on Amazon Prime a few weeks ago (not made it to the cinema yet, and in amber country ten day quarantine right now), so that's another option for Prime members.
I can't remember much, it wasn't my cup of tea, too slow and documentary, couldn't really identify with the nomads. I think I watched it to the end but not even sure what the ending was.

Saw this via Disney+ and really enjoyed it. Didn't mind the slow pace. For anyone interested The Film Programme a few weeks back was very interesting and informative on this film and Chloe Zhao and I recently managed to find The Rider which I also enjoyed. The link to the radio programme which is well worth listening to: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000v2x2 (or listened to on BBC Sounds)
Preferred cinemas:
Central London and North London as far north as the Hampstead Everyman including Picturehouse Hackney/Notting Hill Gate - but not Wood Green and North Finchley as they are just a bit too far.
