Cruella

#1 Post by helenecolin » Sun May 30, 2021 10:10 pm

Watched it on its release day as I was so excited about this movie since the very first trailer Disney posted online!

Emma Stone is truly brillant as the iconic villain, but Emma Thompson is the real queen of the movie in my opinion. She was cold, wicked, unapologetic... in one word, she was amazing! I can't imagine anyone better to play the Baroness. I would have liked a bit more screen time for Mark Strong though, I felt like his character was under used, and for an actor of Mark's pedigree (see what I did there ;) ), it's a shame really. The guys who play Jasper and Horace were good, I'm not familiar with their names sorry, but again I would have preferred a bit more backstory on them too, not much, just to flesh them out better...

I'm definitely going to watch it again soon with a friend!

Just seen "Cruella" today . . . a great film to see for a return to cinema! I absolutely loved it . . . Good story, fantastic acting, great score. I went today as it's not a holiday week in Scotland so thought it wouldn't be too busy. Like helenecolin above, I would say Emma Thomson is the star! She's outstanding as the Baroness.
Make sure you sit on after the first set of credits as there's a short extra which you need to see as it makes sense of the Disney film and other versions of 101 Dalmatians.
I will definitely go back and see it again.
Marks 10/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I used my Vue vouchers to watch this last night. I really enjoyed this too.

Both Emmas are amazing! I agree with helenecolin, would have liked to have seen more of Mark Strong.

I was sad when the film ended. The cinema was full with social distancing in operation.

Went and saw this last Sunday with my mum and sister. I enjoyed this more than expected and thought both Emmas did a great job. Also thought the fashion in it was very good and liked the little dog who played wink. I would give it 8/10 and enjoyed this new take on her character.

Decent film, Emma Stone was great, but it’s a little too long and the middle drags. 3/5.
Upcoming films want to see;
Top Gun Maverick
MI 7 & 8
The Many Saints of Newark
Ghostbusters : Afterlife

Best films seen recently;
Tenet
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

Wasn't expecting it but...Loved this. It was really funny. Great acting and story. Thanks to the heads up on the free lottery weekend! 10/10 highly recommend. I thought the cinema would be full of children, not busy but it was adults :-).

this was ok, even if it repeats tricks a lot, it just about gets you through the length with its bubbliness. That wig is looks daft throughout though, and stone chewing up the scenery is a bit much at times.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?
