I agree that the film was good in parts. I particularly liked the bits with Meryl streep in. I would have liked a bit more about julia child, she seemed the more interesting character.

Think it was one for a wet afternoon and a box of chocs to watch.
OH fell asleep during it!!

Watched it in Coventry Odeon and came away abit disappointed starts off as a well made film, it just starts to drag abit towards the end (to long in length time wise)
thats my excuse anyway for not b*ying it on dvd when it is released finally this year or next.

Score 6 out of 10

I really enjoyed it...fun and easy without going the chick lit way that I hate. I love cooking anyway but this fired me up to find more about Julia Child...I guess I found her opart more interesting than the 2002 blog. Meryl SAtreep played her with such a twinkle in her ( seemingly 6' 2" ) eye and, having succumbed to the lure of youtube after the showing, did a very good impersonation. Loved it and will watch again when it comes out on DVD

This was a strange film to watch. Throughout I felt that the Amy Adams character was cheating. She was just copying slavishly what Julia Childs had written and wasn't using any imagination or flair. The fact that she was then blogging her activities felt to me like plagiarism of a sorts.
Because of this I thought the ending was spot on. It addressed the negative copy-cat vibe prevalent throughout the movie and redeemed the film for me.
Julie's pronounciation of Boeuf Bourguignon still irritates the heck out of me.

Oh, she's doing it again. I just barked "Boeuf! Boeuf! It's Boeuf!" at the screen. OH has been throwing me strange looks...

LOL the things you can do at home but not in a cinema, although I have been at screenings where people do randomly shout stuff.
