Across The River And Into The Trees

A Research Screening

You've been invited to join an exclusive online preview of "Across The River and Into The Trees" directed by award-winning director, Paula Ortiz. The screening will be conducted online.

Across The River And Into The Trees - Synopsis

Based on the bestselling book by internationally acclaimed, Nobel prize winning author Ernest Hemingway. "Across The River and Into The Trees" is the last of his novels to be dramatised as a film. Starring Liev Schreiber, Matilda De Angelis, Josh Hutcherson, Danny Huston, and Laura Morante.

The story itself is fictionalised as an hybrid by real life events and historic characters. Set in post WW2 Venice Italy, American Army Col. Richard Cantwell, haunted by the war, is a bona fide hero who faces news of his illness with stoic disregard. Determined to spend a weekend in quiet solitude, he commandeers a military driver to facilitate a visit to his old haunts in Venice. As Cantwell's plans begin to unravel, a chance encounter with a remarkable young woman begins to re kindle in him the hope of renewal.

Based on the last full-length novel Hemingway published in his lifetime, "Across The River and Into The Trees" captures a fleeting moment of immortality where time stands still. The story contains the great Hemingway themes of love, war, youth, and age. A black & white homage to a glorious age of cinema; seen through the pen of one the world's unique geniuses, Ernest Hemingway.
