Just heard from friends who live about 25Km from Lorca, Spain. They felt the quake but luckily no damage to them or their property. Fingers crossed there are no other aftershocks and there are no more deaths.

That's only about an hour or so away from where I used to live and go on holiday every year as a child/teenager. Scary!

We are going out in three weeks for a long week-end so glad that we still have somewhere to stay!

Two of my German friends (well, distant family) are coming to London on Monday for a few days, and as they want to meet some people in Billericay as well, they booked a hotel in Dagenham, as they said that's sort of inbetween and looked good on the map. I wouldn't ever have advised anyone to stay in Dagenham or am I just being snobbish? Is there anywhere else between London and Billericay that they could/should stay instead? Must admit I don't know much about the area.

I am off to Southern Spain on Sunday, but we are going to be about 268 kms away from Lorca, so I hope we are a safe distance away! But hope no more quakes in or around anywhere!

No idea about hotels between London and Billericay, but if they are using public transport, would it be easier to stay near Liverpool Street for the trains to Billericay or are they driving? If so, anywhere near the A12 for easy access to London and Billericay?

Actually, it doesn't sound too bad:

Hating the Student loan Company :wall: They do take the piss. I sent in everything (evidence and such) they asked after i did the form early(March). Called them Yesterday to Know how my application was going and the man said oh we need something else. I asked why they didnt ask for it during the six and half weeks they had it. He was like oh we thought we sent you a letter. 8O Really!! Rushed and sent it of today (next day delivery) but i am still pissed off.
