in surbiton the other day someone started talking to me at the bus stop (and she wasnt even old..older people are often more chatty than the younger generations). That was rare rare, even out in the suburbs!
I wonder if its a relatively recent thing, all this incommunicado. The way you see elders chatting lots (not on the tube, but around the suburbs) makes you think that london was probably a much more communicative population back in their youth, and if so its a sad thing that the capital has lost that.
if i'm in a chatty mood i'll talk to anyone anywhere. although one time i really wished i hadn't as the guy thought i was chatting him up and asked me if i wanted to hook up later that night or maybe another night. he was not my type (he had gold teeth - for fashion purposes, and no it wasn't Goldie. he also walked like he thought he was a brooklyn gangsta or relative of snoop dogg).
....
i'm supposed to be going out tonight to get drunk and see friends watch football. but i've just been out for early dinner with two of them and now i'm home and my stomach hurts and i don't want to go out tonight now and i spent literally half my money for tonight on food.

I apologised to a woman about my dripping umbrella and she started chatting about the weather and England, and where am I from and how long have I lived here? Whereabouts in Germany and she used to live there for a few years and she is Italian and then she started speaking German in a heavy accent! It spooked me out at the same time as it cheered me up - unfortunately I only had one stop to go.
Unfortunately or fortunately?
Oh dear I'm feeling a bit worried. I am always talking to people on the bus and quite often they blurt out their entire life story to me. Now I'm thinking that everyone must think I am a total nutter.
Just catching up and I'm always chatting to people I don't know (I too must be a nutter). I automatically smile at people and more often than not people smile back, I drive one of my friends and OH mad by engaging in conversation with people I don't know.

Central London has been invaded by people dressed in red and blue, I take it there's some football match on tonight..?
Anyway, went to Haymarket Cineworld to see Apocalypse Now, in the company of roughly 20 well behaved people, on the big screen 1. It's been at least 15 years or more since I've seen it last, and wow, what a film! Perfect 10/10.

err - not all of us - some of us were with them right through the bad times!

Well I for one am glad it's ended, was ridiculously over-hyped. Let's face it, everyone knew who was going to win before the final contenders were even announced.

As you've only half agreed, perhaps you could compromise and only camp half outside?
