I would highly reccommend zumba o/

its great fun plus a full on workout. I'm un-coordinated too but so were most others so it really didn't matter and you can go at your own pace.

oh f**k... i went to the cinema then agreed to "one" cocktail at about 6pm. i'm just home. so much for not drinking! i also didn't eat all day so after we drank so much we went to eat and had burger king. oh i'm going to diet hell.

oh well tomorrow is another day. and i will be hungover!

Keep away from the stodge Aruif, i always wants carbs when i'm hungover. A brisk walk is always good to sweat it out. :outta:

Well, Aruif, pat yourself on the back girl. You've made a HUGE step forward. You KNOW whats happening. You KNOW you are not eating properly, and you are THINKING something has to be done. You have recduced alcohal too. And furthermore you are telling US here on this thread, people who care. That's BIG. You know how many people just let things roll on for years and slide down further into unhealthy stress levels which ultimately causes obesity, depression, faster aging? Obviously, you are not one of them o/

So things are looking UP already. Take things step by step and everything else fall beautifully into place. You'll find harmony at work, problems that seems to be stressing you out, will simply become challenges you relish.

So first thing's first. Illeviate your stress. High stress levels leads to everything else that you know already is wrong. What's the opposite of being stressed?..chilling ;) OK relaxation. Relax relax relax. Its actually easier said than done sometimes. I know because I had to work on it myself. But its simple. I know everyone is telling you to do exercise class, and some funky dance thing (sounds pretty good) and yes go for it, enjoy it. But priority is relaxation just for the moment. As well as the dance thing (if you like it) do a pilates or yoga class which are a brilliant means to relax and have your mind reach a state of clarity. You seem to be working too much perhaps? Reduce it a bit. Take some breaks, or if you already have enough breaks, then use them solitarily for now to think about where you are at, where you are heading and how you can use time better to progress your fitness and health and set out your GOALS.

Its all very well caring people telling you "oh do this", "or you can do this", "or do that" blah blah (and yeah this post counts as one of those!) but its all a bit useless if you dont have DRIVE or MOTIVATION to do any of that. So what you need to think about are GOALS.

Aruif, you lacking motivation...and motivation needs goals. How can I tell? Well "Cant be arsed" was pretty much the dead give away! In fact I cant see a more demotivating sentence than that! Goals are so important. Its what drives me. I know I would be just like you if I dont have goals to go for. In fact I would be worse because as strange it sounds I am by nature the laziest git in town! Another thing that really helps me is support and you got that loads on this thread. So what do you want to achieve? use those relaxation periods to thnk about where you want to be in 6 months time. Then break it down into stages, of what you want to lose and be at in 1 months and 3 months time. Dont worry if it sounds too ambitious, nothing is impossible. I didnt just learn that by word of mouth, I experienced it. I couldnt imagine myself jogging for 10 minutes over a year ago and now I'm running sub 2 hour half marathons and um...near marathons! But it doesnt have to be about physical exercise achievements, it can be to just looking healthy and fit. If you have friends of the jealous type, you can even use them as a goal and show them how you can be heathy and fit and show off your figure (not annoyingly but inspiringly). Or your intemediate goal could be to look good for a holiday at a beach resort in 3 months. You get my drift? SET OUT YOUR GOALS.

When you have set your goals, recite them daily. REPEAT THEM, REPEAT THEM. Visualise yourself of having achieved those goals already. I visualised myself being wanted by Kate Winslet and having to tell her sorry she's not my type. Share your goals with with your friends. That way, you set yourself a challenge that you really dont want to fail because you told everyone! Tell us here too because we back other here on this thread.

If you read e-books on your phone, I can "lend" you an e-book that is a magnificent read that can really set you on right track. it did so for me.

Now some practical do's and dont's to cure that he sweet craving of yours. The reason your mind is craving sweet stuff is because your body and sub concious mind are in emergency mode. How it got there is likely to be either due to stress and/or starvation for too long periods. When the mind senses a lack of food, your brain is pursuading you to grab the sweet stuff for quick (unhealthy) fixes.

SO to combat this craving DO the following:

1. Drink lots of water. You can can substitute some of this for herbal tea, my favourite is peppermint. Try it. No milk.

2. TRY try try to split your meals into 5 smaller meals a day. Breakfast, midmorning, dinner, midafternoon, and dinner. About 3 hours in between each.

3. Substitute fatty stuff with healthier and unprocessed alternatives but not too much fruit (I say fruits because its such a mistakenly easier alternative that people make which is not actually the proper alternative due to its sugar content).

These 2 things alone will cut out your sweet craving because you are preventing your subconcious mind from switching to emergency starvation mode. And of course I'll say it again, be relaxed. Illeviate your stress as much as you can. You cant illeviate it completely, no one can (well actually some can) and in fact stress plays a role in handling pressures, makes you alert and combatitive but its about lowering them to more healthier levels.

I am passing on kowledge I learnt from my own courses and professionals I have used successfully on my own weightloss, fitness journey. I was actually in the same boat as you.

And one more thing. Snap out of any negativitiy that is trying to possess you. Think positive :) You are doing great already o/

thanks so much.

i know i drank last night but i felt like i needed it and i danced away to my hearts content and today i don't feel hangover i just feel calm and somewhat de-stressed!

i do try to take note of the little changes i'm making and knowing it's all going in the right direction. i've done it all before but it was such hard work and i'm angry with myself for letting myself put the weight back on.

my plan is this:

i have one month left at the gym (it was a gift subscription now ended) - i will go swimming once a week and general gym once a week. From then i will aim to go to Richmond park at least twice a week and walk with my ipod on for at least half an hour. Then i'll look at increasing it bit by bit.

I have some pilates excercises i'm supposed to do at home for my back but i never do them, or very rarely so i will do those more often as my back is really sore at the moment.

i will try and drink more water and i should drink at least 4-6 cups of green tea a day. i don't like it any more but i think that's because i'm still craving sweet!

(i say all this but sticking to it is hard when you lack motivation even though you want the motivation and have a goal! it's a shitty state of mind!)

Yep you are most definitely heading in the right direction. But dont be angry at yourself, learn the reason you put the weight back on and know you wont make that mistake again. It might have been hard work before but it will be easier this time because you will do it a bit differently this time. This time, you will gradually adapt a healthy lifestyle that you can maintain for LIFE, because you will have nicely conditioned yourself to it. A lifestyle you will enjoy and will never imagine deviating from again. There will always be a few slips now and again but you will know not to let it descend too far. The future really is that bright, honest!

Awesome. Actually for progression, step up the intensity of your walks, not the duration. Work up some sweat, dont just stroll. You want to burn fat remember, so make your walks brisk. More intensity at shorter duration is far more effective in fat burning than lower intensity walks for longer duration. And that's better news for you isnt it? Because you dont have to extend your work out times ;)

When your gym membership runs out, I'll show you programs that you (and anyone else interested) can do at home and in the park. in the meantime this is youtube channel that has a wealth of great exercise videos to work out to. I'm sure there are others but I am impressed with this one, as they show proper techniques etc.

And if you explore youtube a bit more, you'll find videos of many dance aerobics type classes to workout to. But what you need is a a proper tailored workout program structure which needs changing every 4 weeks or so. Get a a program from you gym now for the remaining month if you havent got one already.

Yes yes do them! Do do do! And they are great for relaxation which you also really need.

Do or do not, there is no try....sorry, that should have been in the film quotes thread. I already told you how you can cure the swee craving...drink the water and tea! Change your green tea to a different hebal tea, mix things up. We all tire of one thing all the time.

Naa, thank you. You got me on a roll here, and I've been bottling up a growing itch to ramble on my dreaded and sometimes annoying preaches and somehow you've unleashed that in me.
