If you b*y a p*y as you go, then you only p*y per journey and you will never p*y more a day than a day card would cost (in theory but be careful how much they deduct). The card costs £3 deposit I believe, you can get that back if you no longer want the travelcard but it might make more sense to keep it for next time you are in London.
I find Camden Market terribly overrated btw. You could consider Greenwich and a Thames cruise (I believe you can get a discount if you come to London by train). Tell me when you are coming and we could meet if I am around!

This might be in the wrong thread so sorry if it is. I'm going to London for 2 days in July; Is it worth getting an Oyster card? I want to go to Kensington Palace, Buckingham Palace, Portobello Road and Camden Market (first 2 for me and second 2 for daughter). Am I being ridiculous or is it possible to fit it all in? I've got loads of stamina and can walk all day long but sometimes I have unrealistic expectations. Any tips greatly appreciated.

Yes, it is do-able! Kensington Palace and Portobello Road is in West London, so you can do those on the same day. Camden Market is lovely, contrary to what Beate says LOL - that is my neck of the woods! How old is your daughter? I would love to show you around, if I am around too, and show you were to have a cheap lunch as well! I must add Greenwich is great too, as Beate says, I always take my visitors there too!

Mine and my bf's london trip kinda dissapated once we saw the prices for any hotel marginally near london between now and september! Disappointed much! Wanted to go Hard Rock and Ripley's!

i can recommend a good hostel in shepards bush right opposite westfields.

I'm staying in a travel lodge for £25 in central London, I chose one where you can leave your luggage so I don't have to carry it around all day. I just wanted somewhere to sleep as I will be out and about most of the time but you may want somewhere more romantic etc. I have a pass for Buckingham Palace (valid for one year until 13th August so I can see pictures of the Royal Wedding and the dress) and an Art Pass (thanks to Bevvy) so free entry to Kensington Palace. So we have got an overnight stay in London including train travel from Manchester for the bargain price of £70 for 2. Now a cheap lunch with Prettyxcool and a guided tour and meeting Beate, what a fab 2 days I'll have.

Its at Liverpool Street and there are 3 tube lines going there, I asked Valda before I booked it and she said I would be safe getting back there at night as quite a busy area. The Travel lodges slightly more central won't let you leave your luggage and even though an overnight stop I'd rather not have to carry it around. Someone on here posted the deal, I've just double checked my email and its definately £25. It was too good a deal to miss along with all my other deals thanks to this fab site.
