Re: FOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!
does anyone have any good recipies for biscuits? it's just one of the children is running for school council for her class it is quite a tough competition between her and one of her friends. So she wants to make some sort of cake/ biscuit where she can put Vote K on them to try to sway the vote a little in her favour. only she can't take them in till last minuite as her friend has been copying her ideas then going the one extra or putting her posters over k's.

Sorry, not a baker myself, but am sure someone will find you a foolproof recipe. Also, OMG! How old are they? That's a bit mean to do to your friend?!!!butterfly wrote:only she can't take them in till last minuite as her friend has been copying her ideas then going the one extra or putting her posters over k's.

Re: FOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!
Basic Cookie recipe
225g Butter, at room temperature
110g caster sugar
275g plain flour
ground spices, or finely grated zest (optional)
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 170C/gas 3.
2. Cream the butter in a large bowl or in a food mixer until soft and creamy. Add the sugar and beat until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
3. Sift in the flour and spices or grated zest (if using) and bring the mixture together to form a firm dough.
4. Using your hands, roll the dough into walnut-sized balls and place them slightly apart on a baking tray (no need to grease or line). Flatten them slightly with the back of a damp fork and bake in the oven for 13–15 minutes, or until they are light golden brown and slightly firm on top.
5. Carefully transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool.
Of course you can add whatever you like to this recipe, or even dip them in chocolate, and then all that's left to do is to enjoy them!
If you go to the supermarket you can get basic icing pens for her to write her initial on the cookies once they have cooled. These can be made a day or so before they are needed as long as you put in an airtight container once cooled.

Re: FOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!
Oh forgot to say as she is taking the cookies into school DO NOT add any nuts etc. Probably best just to add chocolate drops or suchlike.

Here is a link for a recipe for chicken breton which i found on the web after trying it in cafe rouge many moons ago (on a 2for1 obviously!)
http://seasonalfrenchlife.blog.co.uk/20 ... n-5442504/
I usually serve it with horseradish or mustard mash, rather than minted potatoes and 6 garlic cloves!
Many years ago (decades!!!) I used to go to a restaurant in a hotel just off Oxford street, which had a fab and cheap restaurant. It was the highlight of any stay in London, mainly because we had no money and usually ate in student places (pies in those days). It had a chicken with bacony-flavour dish, in a cream sauce. I have been searching for this for years. (The restaurant/hotel) went ages ago. I will give this a go, and see if I can recover something from my lost youth!
I think it might have been served with either potatoes or rice in those days, but a nice flavoured mash might be just perfect.
Thanks crispoke!

Re: FOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!
I just tried this: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2516 ... esar-salad
and it came out fantastic!! Well, actually tbh, my Mum did most of it, but I did the croutons! A really plain recipe but I absolutely lurrrveeeeee chicken recipes.
I'm want to make chicken carbonara tomorrow. Mmmmmm. Anyone have a good home made recipe for this? The ones online seem too difficult.

Here's a good recipe for children that I've used with my niece: http://www.popularcookierecipes.com/PeanutButter.html
and this: http://www.popularcookierecipes.com/Chocolatechip.html (I do use this site alot!)
After I made the cookie, I used icing with abit of colour to scribble her name on it with kisses and decorated it with her.
(Have you seen any of millie's personalised cookies - it's abit like that).
Tastes yummmy! Oh if kids have peanut allergies, try one of the other recipes and do the same. Looks yummy and tastes yummy too!
