Ms Thrifty wrote:Wow - all these afternoon teas sound a bit posh to me (though OH did take me to the Ivy for dinner once, so I can do smart). I am usually out walking so hot, scruffy and dishevelled and prefer to sit outside at tea rooms with a huge pot of tea, mug and big wodge of cake. I end up with crumbs and drips everywhere, so I'm better off outdoors.
I am not so keen on places where you feel you have to dress up for afternoon tea. I tend towards the 'scruffy and dishevelled' look whether I have been out walking or not!
Having said that, my eldest took her sister to the Ritz as a birthday present and they both loved it - but then they also love any excuse to dress up (preferably in a new outfit).

I think I'd get on quite well with them ;)

I am definitely not into dressing up - I normally dress down so normal clothes are dressing up for me. and I have said before that tablecloths are a turn-off - focus on the food, I say!

When in doubt  , ask FMUK :star: - they will have the answer!!! o/

So I'm looking for a storage container to store the top tier of our wedding cake in the freezer - the box we currently have it in is WAY to big. Probably should have done this sooner but hey ho. I'm looking for a container that measures at least in inches 9x9x6(height) and it needs to be freezable obviously. The closest I have come is http://www.lakeland.co.uk/9-litre-lock- ... 441/pgs/70 but it's quite expensive for a cake I won't eat (I know it sounds terrible but who likes fruit cake... neither hubby or I do that's for certain)...

Anyone seen / know of anything better please? :cross:

I was waiting to be picked up the other day from Camden and as it was miserable and wet I took shelter in a pound store so I took a quick look round and noticed that they had lots of packs of large lockable plastic containers much like the sort you've linked to. Btw, if you got to the church street market just off edgware road, there are a couple of cheap and easy shops there selling allsorts and it might be an idea to pop in to have a look.

What, no food-related discussion whatsoever yesterday?! I went a bit cake-mad when walking and stocked up on several slices from a little village store en route. They made my heavy rucksack even heavier and they got rather squashed, too, but I shall enjoy them anyway. The cake I had with my afternoon tea was so big that I couldn't finish it - most unlike me, and I had to leave the rest as it was too gooey to take home. That will teach me to be greedy and grab the biggest slice!

No, alas, I was working - earning money to support my cake habit. Cupcakes look nice but they're a bit - erm - small!

I didn't but I have just been handed a triple chocolate cupcake which is huge by a work colleague as a thank-you for some help I gave him. This type of work colleague I like!
