Ms Thrifty wrote:Sure: 100 any network minutes each and 100 texts each. Our calls are brief and we rarely text, though. Last time I renewed (a year ago now) I told them I wanted to cut the cost as we were p*ying for calls and text we didn't use, and that was on the basis of £10 per month each. So this was a big improvement - half the cost for the same amount of calls/texts. The only thing was that I had to agree to an 18-month tie-in instead of 12, but as we've never changed provider anyway, that wasn't an issue.
That's a fantastic deal!

I am on a £10 a month deal with O2, 400 minutes and 400 texts which I mainly don't use (half that would be more than enough) so as it is coming to an end soon I asked them to lower the offer to under £10 with less minutes. Would they heck! Apparently £15 with 300/300 is the best I can get now. I have heard of an online cashback deal but it all sounds a bit complicated for existing customers. I don't understand that they don't want to keep customers with good offers in the light of the T-Mobile/Orange merger, I really don't!

Ms Thrifty wrote:With any insurance, what you really want is a company that will handle it well in the unfortunate event that you have a claim. "Which?" magazine used to include this aspect in their ratings but ceased to do so some years ago and it's such a retrograde step.
Unfortunately, with insurance, it is difficult to really be sure ans they are all slippery. I moved my household insurance to the company that advertises they are best on those matters. I had a hole in my roof, and they sent a loss adjuster who could not see it. My cheapskate neighbour, who only every goes for the cheapest company, got a new roof, house redecoration, and carpets, all about a year ago, and I am still waiting..... I called the insurer recently to complain, and things moved for a while, but... still nothing....

And I have "premium" pet insurance, and - as some of you know - my b*y cat Charlie died last month. My vets assured me they had sent of the form and informed the insurer that he had died, and they have taken off a month's premium already, and then they sent me an annual renewal at the weekend (when I also got the cremation certificate for my cat. When I called then (closed from Saturday lunchtime), they said the vet had not told them my cat had died. So I called the vet, and they checked the copy of the form, and .... it had a tick in the box that asked if this condition resulted in death. (Still they have sent £900+ plus back for his care before he died...)

With insurance, it does not matter what the company policy is if one idiot gets the claim form ...

I was going to say the same thing - they got a bit sure of themselves seeing as millions signed up for an iPhone...

Sorry to hear your news Cortone :(
But you're right - it so depends on that one person... what a horrible thing to get wrong / have to keep telling them.

Whoops. Left the house in such a hurry that I forgot to turn the computer and Internet off! You probably all thought I was online here all day! :wall:

I've been out walking all day and noticed a tempting offer at my local vineyard(!). They have all sorts of visitor facilities, e.g. shop, vineyard tours, cafe, restaurant and 4-star farmhouse B & B. For £199 per couple, you can have 2 nights' B & B plus a 3-course a la carte meal in the fancy restaurant -oh, and a vine to take away. It's more than I/we would usually p*y, but I reckon the meal alone would cost quite a lot, which means the B & B element isn't so bad.

It's about the same offer as the Oxford Belfry has, LOL (minus the wine).
