Have the aficionados abandoned the food thread in their new-found fervour for dieting? I am sticking with my cake habit - chocolate truffle cake today.

I knew I shouldn't have clicked on this thread. Now I am going to have to go back and add the delicious lime and coconut cake to my order from Abel and Cole.
I resisted the temptation when ordering my healthy organic food earlier (had been looking at the weightwatchers thread).
If I am going to eat cake it might as well be really good cake - no Mr Kipling for me!

I'm still having a cake on a Sunday after a long walk in the hills, extra calories I've used I eat so still equates to 1200 calories a day! That's my excuse anyway

Yes, cake is one of life's great pleasures - surprising how much difference it makes to the day. And if you feel you've earned it, so much the better. I like coconut and lime cake but didn't know Abel & Cole stocked it - now I will be looking at their website, too, but I can't see OH agreeing to have a box delivered.

I like coconut and lime cake.

Not sure if it would be to your liking but a friend gave me this recipe. I have never made it myself but absolutely love it when I go to hers and she offers me a piece!

Coconut & Lime Cheesecake

Ingredients
100g Butter
200 g wholewheat biscuits, crushed
350g light or low-fat cream cheese
5 tbsp clear Honey
150 g desiccated Coconut
zest and juice of 1 limes
350g plain Yogurt

To decorate:
zest of 1 lime

Method
1. Line a 20cm loose-bottomed cake tin with baking parchment.
2. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in the crushed biscuits, mixing well.
3. Tip the biscuit mixture into the tin, pressing it down well and levelling the surface. Chill for at least 1 hour, or overnight.
4. Mix together the cream cheese and honey, stirring until smooth. Stir in the coconut and lime zest and juice. Add the yoghurt and mix well.
5. Spoon the mixture over the biscuit base. Chill for 45 minutes.
6. Remove the cheesecake from the tin and decorate with lime slices and zest.

It does sound good, but I shall pass this one to OH, as he is the cheesecake-maker in our household. He offered to make one yesterday, but I declined, as I wanted to have cake with my tea on my walk. So being unable to probably served me right!

The cake is made by a company in Brighton called Kai Organics, it is delicious, as are the other ones of theirs that I have tried. It is a bit pricy - £5.99 but it is worth it to me as I can't get anything like that locally.

I am using Abel and Cole for my shopping at the moment because they sent me an offer - get a veg box delivery every week (min £15) for 4 weeks and they then credit your account with £50. This is the 4th week, so after that I don't have to b*y a veg box if I order - I can spend the £50 on cake if I like! (though OH is very impressed with the quality of their meat).

I might mention this to OH, then, though must be careful not to put his nose out of joint and thus jeopardise my food supply. He is very keen on growing his own (minuscule garden, mind) and after some success this year with tomatoes, courgettes, aubergines and herbs, is planning to branch out next year. Trouble is I really like most root veg (especially parsnips!) but apart from carrots, he is not keen on those, so he won't grow them and if they were in a box, I would be the one to have to use them up. You wouldn't think vegetable likes and dislikes could be so marked, but they are - I love beetroot, too, but he loathes it.

Lots going on this weekend! Sydney - soudns like you had a great time - with the freebies at least! When I went ot wedding fairs I barely got anything free... apart from all the leaflets that they load on you. Oh well...

I have STILL not had any cake!! What is wrong with me?! To be fair I had some pudding type cake things on Saturday, but I don't think that counts as I was too full from dinner by that time to savour it and anyway we were all trying a bit of all of them... I'm still wanting a bit of Vic Sponge (sorry Ms Thrifty, but it really can be good!!) and though I have promised myself I will cut down on the bad foods that I have been indulging in since the wedding I might just have to make this cake the exeption.

I'd be quite happy ot try the lime and coconut cake too... oh dear, there really is no hope for me... and to think I used to be quite good...

I too love beetroot, I am also very fond of swede and jerusalem artichokes - My OH, who claims not to bed a fussy eater, can't stand any of these but just about tolerates parsnips (my other big favourite).
