I know, I want to see it! (and hope that they're not showing audience shots during the video...) I'm at work but I shall be watching this on iPlayer tonight

Thanks for the head's up though! I assume/hope they'll do more press today/this weekend, but I don't know of anything else.

just watched it, it was bad (good hair day for JLC though  ); it was a mix of Broadway and London videos...
though the London footage was rehearsal footage ;)

Thanks, Celini! o/ I don't mind us being on the EPK, but BBC would be a bit much :P (how was Oliver looking??)

he was ok; a bit too polished maybe (damn BBC make up artist!)

it was bad because I don't think it was a very good PR and this is what they wanted in the end!
watch it and you'll see ;)
it was the last thing on breakfast (like 5 minutes before the end)

Tonight is the official opening night for the new musical Rock of Ages! Oliver Tompsett tweeted this morning that he was already on his way to do an interview with the BBC, so promotion has well and truly begun. The musical won five Tony nominations on Broadway and a film is already in the making. Rock of Ages also stars Amy Pemberton, Justin Lee Collins and Shayne Ward and you can see it in the Shaftesbury theatre.

Five Fast Facts

1. An airhostess asked Justin Lee Collins, who plays Dennis Dupree in the musical, if he was in Rock of Ages - even before he knew about the show.

2. The film version currently in production stars Tom Cruise as Stacee Jaxx and Russell Brand as Lonnie and Alec Baldwin as Dennis Dupree.

3. As a West End first the audience can order beers during the performance, pass along your money down the row to the usher and hope you get your beer back!

4. Oliver Tompsett, the wannabe rocker Drew, has actually signed a record deal with Warner Bros and his debut album is out soon.

5. In a recent interview with broadwayworld.com Amy Pemberton described Rock of Ages as: “ It’s just the most fun, buzzing, enjoyable night out. You’ll laugh the whole way through!” - We agree with her!

I had to correct them and say Oliver already released his debut album in 2008 :shifty:

I have been sent an invite only (non transferable invitee only) email from SFF for Rock of Ages tonight - I am not interested but if anyone else wants me to get tickets for them let me know asap - but the name would presumably have to be changed...
Preferred cinemas:
Central London and North London as far north as the Hampstead Everyman including Picturehouse Hackney/Notting Hill Gate - but not Wood Green and North Finchley as they are just a bit too far.
