The cocoa time bomb – is time running out for chocolate? Thursday 13 October 18:30

It’s Chocolate Week 10 – 16 October, a week of celebrations and tasting lots of good quality chocolate. One of the aims is to encourage consumers to p*y a fairer price for their chocolate. Slow Food London and Chocolate Week are co-hosting a panel discussion.

Join us for a presentation of chocolate made from known sources and a discussion about the issues of traceability and fairness in cocoa farming, with chocolate from Divine, Grenada Chocolate, Pacari and others.

The journey from cocoa farm to your chocolate bar is a long one. In most cases, we have no way of knowing exactly where the cocoa came from, whether the farmers got a fair price or what the ecological or social impacts were. Labelling schemes like Fair Trade or Rainforest Alliance provide assurance about some of these issues, but not the whole story.

We can only truly know that our chocolate is made from fair, sustainable and quality sources if we can trace back the origin of the cocoa. In this tasting and panel discussion, we look at some direct cocoa projects, discuss whether this model can work for the wider chocolate industry and explore some of the threats and challenges facing the cocoa and chocolate worlds.

Panel members:

Martin Christy - Seventypercent, chair
Mott Green - Grenada Chocolate Company
Maricel Presilla - Independent, author 'new Taste of Chocolate'
Sophi Tranchell - Divine
Frank Homann - Xoco Gourmet (Honduras cacao grower)
Santiago Peralta - Pacari chocolate, Ecuador

Venue: LG Floor, Waterstone’s, 203-206 Piccadilly, W1J 9HD
Date: Thursday 13 October
Time: 18:30 - 20:00

This event is free but booking is essential. Email genevieve@chocolateweek.co.uk to book your place

To make the most of your cruves, last year, Levi’s® came up with a revolutionary new fit system to find the perfect pair of jeans based on your shape rather than your size. After masses of research, the original denim brand created jeans to fit three distinct body shapes – the Slight, Demi and Bold Curve. How does it work? Well, to determine your Curve ID, one of the Levi’s® curve consultants simply takes two measurements, makes a quick calculation and, hey presto, your Levi’s® Curve ID is revealed. Choose from a selection of leg styles and washes – then say goodbye to gaping backs, tight waistbands and ill-fitting jeans!

This month, Levi’s® and Grazia are inviting you to a series of events to ensure you find the perfect fitting jeans. On the night, you’ll meet the Grazia team, who will be on hand to offer you ultimate denim styling tips before you have your new look snapped by top fashion photographer Perou! You’ll also be able to enjoy an exclusive discount, Champagne and cupcakes, and mini make overs before you step in front of the lens!

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY
✱ Thursday 13 October at Levi’s® Flagship Store, Regent Street, from 6pm-9pm. Join fashion editors Sophie Ferguson Jones and Catherine Nieto, who will be on hand to style up your Levi’s® Curve ID jeans.

✱ Tuesday 18 October at House of Fraser, Westfield White City London, from 5pm-8pm. Shopping editor Lily Russo and Grazia Daily web editor Angela Buttolph will help you find the perfect fit.

✱ Wednesday 19 October at House of Fraser Oxford Street, from 5pm-8pm. Sophie Ferguson Jones and Catherine Nieto will be in store.

✱ Thursday 20 October at the Levi’s® Flagship Store, Regent Street, from 6pm-9pm. Web fashion assistant Naomi Attwood and Catherine Nieto talk you through your denim dilemmas.

For more information on all the events and to register for a free ticket AND an exclusive goodie bag filled with gorgeous gifts, go to www.levi.com/curveid
