If you ask me, every screen should have its own projectionist, as well as an usherette, an organist, a conductor, and a sniper trained to blow the heads off anyone who dares open their mouth after the titles start.

Hear hear! I love it! Do I hear volunteers for the position of sniper? Elski maybe? Lol.

On a serious note I definitely agree with options 1 and 2. Organist might also be amusing (up to a point ....in a blockbuster disater/action movie). Lol

It's like they're reading my mind! Friend and I discussed snipers before Puss in Boots hehe Though it was more because the man "patrolling" kept warning everyone to turn of their phones and we wondered if he had snipers at strategic positions to shoot any phone lights as soon as the movie had started.

They still have an organist and usherettes at Stockport Plaza, shame there has only been one free screening there (I think) it was one of the Sky screenings.

Wasn't that for Boardwalk Empire? Lovely venue and event, I remember it being not very well attended and there were almost as many usherettes / musicians in period costume as viewers.

I defintely agree with the article and can't help myself changing people's TVs when they are incorrectly set up. And what thanks do I get? Usually not much, or 'Oh I hadn't noticed' or 'what you doing messing about with my tele?'

Something similar happened to me recently. We went to see the final Harry Potter in the summer - it was 3D in central London, and although we'd had a 2 4 1, I was appalled to have to part with more than £20!!!!!!!!!!

The usher was slightly crazy about mobiles, shouting at us before the lights had even dimmed, but when I told him the screen was blurry, he looked at me as though it was my fault and I should pipe down. Suffice to say nothing was done about it despite a reminder. It was ok, only a tiny bit blurry, but...

Complained by email the next day. 2 free Odeon (anytime, anywhere) tickets! Woo!

(one thing concerned me, however, since she said it wasn't necessary to tell people what they were being charged for in order to make it quicker.... :nono: )
"Oh, sweetheart, you don't need law school. Law school is for people who are boring and ugly and serious. And you, button, are none of those things." - Legally Blonde

Preferred cinemas: Most Central London, Finchley Road, Swiss Cottage, Islington, Holloway and West India Quay, Greenwich (O2 / Odeon only) or Stratford City if there is nothing else!

Seen free in 2012: Jan: Margin Call; J. Edgar; Like Crazy; Carnage; Young Adult. Feb: The Muppets; The Best Extotic Marigold Hotel; Safe House; Project X; Beginners. March: 21 Jump Street; We b*ght a Zoo; Wild Bill; John Carter; Wanderlust; Street Dance 2;The Hunger Games; [The King's Speech]. Apr: The Hunger Games; Battleship; Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. May: What To Expect When You're Expecting; MIB3. June: [We Will Rock You] July: Ted; Seeking a Friend for the End of the World; The Dark Knight Rises; Brave. Aug: The Bourne Legacy. Sept: Lawless

Yes to all of those! When I was a film I want to be surrounded by people who sit still and (preferably) don't breath. I am spoiled by watching my movies at home with headphones on and not getting interrupted by anything, that everything in the cinema annoys me. I also seem to have the worst luck with loudly talking people always around me, oftentimes even on their phones!

This especially:
Maybe there’s a valid reason for someone to be checking their phone. Like they are waiting for urgent news regarding their own health or that of an ill family member. In which case, why are they in a cinema watching ‘Alvin and Chipmunks 3: Chipwrecked’?

I find most of this behaviour is at free screenings. Much less at pa*d screenings.

Although saying that I once went and watched a film with a friend and teenagers came in and threw popcorn over each other and which landed on my head.

The last "pa*d" screening I went to (I used a voucher) there were less than 10 people in the screening room and one of them had a loud conversation on his phone for the duration of the ads, trailers and first minute or so of the movie until he finally got my death stare.

On the positive side: yay, free food! (lol reminds me of this little kid at Journey 2 yesterday who went along the seats after the film had ended to eat the popcorn off of them  )
