We've decided to go and see a panto! Has anyone any recommendations in the London area please? :xmas:

Hackney Empire is famous and always good -- Clive Rowe isn't in it this year (he is fantastic but he's in a play in the West End) but this year's production of Cinderella at the Empire has still got rave reviews. For a smaller venue I'd recommend the Rosemary Branch Pub Theatre in Islington on Southgate Road. The group who put on the panto are called The Charles Court Opera and they are terrific fun. This year their panto is Beowulf -- not your run of the mill choice but I hear it's great. We're going next week and daughter has already reviewed it and given it the thumbs up!

Not quite panto but a fun idea, attractive venue and good reviews: a musical version of The Importance Of Being Earnest at the Riverside Studios, Hammersmith. I'm certainly going to try to fit it in...

We go every year to Wimbledon one. It's really good. I think dame Edna is in it this year.

And the first week of January it is in the get into London theatre offer!

Thaks ejwrank, Ms Thrifty and ansbro81 for your suggestions! I think we've decided to try and see Dame Edna... I mean Dick Whittington!... so the GILT tip is amazing, thank you! We've never been before, but I think my first lesson is to book well in advance! So many of the shows are booked up! And I had no idea it was so expensive! Ah well, off to try the GILT website...

PS Still not found a tree :undecided:

GILT is definitely the best bet for anything at any ATG theatre, as otherwise you have to p*y a booking fee - unless you are a member.

A very Happy Christmas to all!

I have just started to begin to feel festive. I have completed all my food and present shopping and have been creating in the kitchen. I made a Christmas cake today – admittedly it was using the £2 kit from Tesco but I have added so much rum and brandy that I am sure that I have transformed it from all recognition!

I have a veggie friend coming to stay so I have been creating veggie dishes as well. I have created a spectacular chestnut pie thing. I hope that it tastes as good as it looks.

Tomorrow, I need to sort out my tree, cards and presents, sort out the spare bedroom for my friend, help at church and then I am done.
