Thought this was poor for the first 30mins then improved in the middle section and tailed off for the last third.
I seemed like Tom Hardy was reading from an autocue during the non action sequences. Superficial.

Saw this tonight at Odeon, Panton Street in London. The screening was packed and on a small screen. There were quite a few late comers too.

I did not have high expectations for this film. It definitely had a few light moments which made me laugh but I just can't quite put my finger on this film. For me it just did not work the love triangle and the spy scenario. It just seemed that the film had two tones. The leads were all enjoyable and as a light hearted film it certainly was entertaining.

I only realised that the film was directed by McG who also did the Charlie's Angels film. This film was a lot better than those films/

Well this was a particularly dumb and fairly pointless movie. I'm all for brainless escapism but this was downright illogical misguided nonsense. Sadly the film was so in love with it's rather half-arsed high concept plot that it never thought to give audiences characters to care about or root for. I found it hard to care who ended up with who as none of the characters were particularly likeable. Tom Hardy had some charm but Chris Pine was such an obnoxious prick that it was hard to believe the relationship between him and Witherspoon at all. As for her, it bugged me that the film-makers seemed to think it was okay that she was dating two men at the same time. Possibly the lowest point being the moment where she shouts 'I trusted you' at Pine and Hardy, as if she was some unfortunate victim. Attempts to justify it, through her incredibly unlikeable and crude best friend, by having her say that men have been doing this kind of thing for ages was pathetic.

Of course if the film were thrilling or funny enough, this might not have mattered so much. Sadly there were only sporadic laughs to be had and not enough in the way of decent action. I could go into more detail about all the things that bugged me about this but I'm not sure I can be bothered. There are way too many plot holes and inconsistencies for it's own good. Entirely forgettable.

The movie is essentially a chick flick with some action-movie-type element, and like mentioned before, didn't quite gel those two together. Went in with little expectations, and aside of the usual dose of predictability and cliches, and not trying to analyse (or indeed, overanalyse) the film, it's a rather enjoyable show, both the gf and I enjoyed it. An example of "instant" entertainment, and judging by the laughter in the crowd, I'd say I we weren't the only ones. Would say 7/10.

This film is rubbish. Attempts to gel action scenes to a chick flick rom com completely fail. Dumb plot with forgettable characters. Fail.

I can understand why people are being very critical of the film, but I thought it was quite fun. It's a completely mindless rom-com with funny jokes, cute romance and thrilling action (which I wish there had been a bit more of).

I give the film a 7.5/10 - not great, but not bad :P

We quite enjoyed this film. Like eating Mcdonalds; I know its crap but once in a while I quite enjoy a bite. If it came on the telly I would actually watch it again! 6/10

my brain agrees with kevinknapman. i realised that given some thought the basic premise was untenable. But [shuffling of feet] i did laugh quite a lot. not a the big events but some very silly little details
(like when pine called the woman in the pet sanctuary by her first name and she just glares at him - that really tickled me)
.

i particularly hated the ending:
if CP could only discuss her fav artist via cyrano-style audio-link as he had never even heard of klimt and visits the sanctuary just to please her how is he really the better match?
i read another review where they went on about the film was, essentially, normalising stalking by laughing at the surveillance and never making it a privacy issue. there was some joke in the film about the patriot act making this possible. hmmm.

at the end of the film i was smiling thinking 'expectedly fun film'. later was aware that i had been manipulated by hollywood in a way that made me uncomfortable

i particularly hated the ending:
I suppose you could argue that, a normal guy wouldnt have even made the effort :/
Shadowhunters: Looking better in black than the widows of our enemies since 1234.
I am, after all, what you made me.

Many thanks to Jewelz who gave me tickets for this showing at Covent Garden last night :P

I didn't have great expectations for this film to be honest but I'm a big fan of Tom Hardy and was just curious to see how he would transition to playing comedy after so many inmate/gangster type roles.

Verdict: To my surprise the film was hilarious, I laughed throughout the entire film and so did everyone else in the audience it seems. The only thing was it didn't seem plausible for Witherspoon's character to go for Pine's and Hardy to end up back with his ex. Still confused about the comparison of an American with small hands and a British guy. What's so bad about British guys???

So the storyline was a bit pants but it sure did make me laugh a lot!
