I have just finished putting together a present for hubby. He has been watching the BBC 2 series of James May's Toys and keeps going on about how he remembers having all of the toys. So I have a large box with:-

1. Plasticine
2. Lego
3. Meccano
4. Train Set
5. Scalextric

Should make him laugh on Christmas day (although I think I will end up pinching the plasticine - I love the smell of the stuff)

Yeah, for some reason I am getting the Telegraph newsletter and I saw that as well. Might actually do it, that book would be good for my Mum. Will start shopping for presents tomorrow, any ideas for the strictly unintellectual family on the OH's side? Its usually bath stuff, chocs or football books....

cheers for the heads up on the telegraph don't normally get it but will on sat am in town that day too so can go claim the stuff.

not long got home from the liverpool lights switch on, i and the children enjoyed it they changed the way they did it this year. normally there is a main stage and a celeb to switch it on with acts inbetween for entertainment. however, there is always a huge crowd and a nightmare to go to. this year there was a snow queen parade that went through a fair few streets. the crowd where spread out and you didn't have to wait for hours. we caught it right at the start then cut through to the main street, the parade stopped right in front so we could see the magic turn on. we then could go do other stuff and take in the other events that where scattered around the city center. only probblem is the children are supper excited now!

I hadn't even realised the lights were being switched on last night! Oh well, I normally try to avoid these things anyway (too busy for my liking) and I was still at work until after 10pm so I would have missed it. The parade does sound like a much nicer idea than the usual way they do it.

I think I've just about decided what to get everyone for Christmas now, I've b*ght about half of the presents but still have to get round to getting the rest. I'm getting my parents a joint present (a digital photo frame) and a small present each, I know what I'm getting my mum but I've got no idea what else to get my dad yet. I've got nearly everything else apart from a present for one of my friends who has pretty much everything.

Ooh, glad to see the Telegraph thing might be of use! Would probably get the Wrapping paper if I were able to get to Waitrose, but too much to do on Saturday!

Not sure whether this belongs here or under "Food", but I'm enjoying my first Stollen slice of the season - only b*ght one to try (as I didn't know what Morrison's version would be like) but pleasantly surprised, so shall go back for more. Top marks for flavour, moistness and consistency!
