I went to Hay Fever tonight.

The seats in stalls are £53.50 except the two back row, which is £10 cheaper. Well that was a saving of £107 tonight for us! There are certain seats in row E and F that are premium seats which goes for £85! Can't believe anyone pays these prices unless they are corporates!

Lovely to catch up with celini and funthing, ejwrank and jeancomp - who thought she had the seats next to me but it turns out it was Q not O - shame really as she makes a nicer neighbour with personal space! The lady who sat in her seat sat with her legs sprayed out, encroaching my leg space, and her coat during the course of the evening slowly fell more and more into my lap!

Not as funny as I was expecting, but it did provide me with some giggles. It was quite silly, an over the top family driving their weekend guests round the bend. Lesley Duncan was in her element though, sexy and comedic, and so was the diplomat she toys with. The brother and sister were over the top which they were supposed to be? I recognised a lot of the actors but don't remember their names. It was quite enjoyable and funny. Reminds me of The Importance of Being Ernest, but that had more action. Shame the sound was not all that good near the back, wonder how jeancomp got on as she was sitting two rows behind finally. The laughter often drowned out the next bits. When I saw funthing at the interval, she was not amused and hoped the second part would be better, but judging by her review it was not! :giggle:

Went to the Houdini Experience tonight.

Got seats in the dress circle and had a good view of the stage but I wonder if we had been in the stalls, the show might have been more spectacular. The vanishing acts (as others have mentioned) got repetitive especially with the long build ups and could have done with a little less dancing. Found myself looking forward to the acrobatic acts and wishing the dancers (and Hans) would hurry up.
The Jaws of Death failed miserably to snap at the climax of the act partly I suspect because the audience member broke Hans' straightjacket whilst strapping him in and disrupted the timing. Result: Clock ran down, Hans escaped from the straightjacket, plopped to the floor - easy peasy escape considering the fact that the jaws stayed open and cue autoclapping from a bemused audience. The curtain came down and I could hear sounds of crew arguing backstage and finally a snap sound. But Hans carried on like a trouper
My first time at magic show - glad I went for the experience which was cheesy fun but probably NOT going to another one for at least 10 years.

We were also disappointed with Hay Fever tonight. Lots of the audience thought it was hysterical but we thought it fell very flat. Daughter went to the Press Night and warned us. She was right.

Glad to see jeancomp and prettyxcool. And glad it was free.

I loved the show tonight, I could easily watch it again tomorrow...if I had tickets that is. I was in the dress circle too, I was in C7, which seats were you in?

I went to see Hay Fever last night.

I wanted to see this mainly because of the cast. Lindsay Duncan and Olivia Colman were very good and most of the support too but the play is a bit dated. There was lots of laughter and some applause from a group on one side of the theatre, I'm sure you laugh more if you've pa*d because you've made a more considered choice to attend and want to feel you're getting your enjoyment.

The theatre is quite small so even from row Q we could see and hear, initially I was a bit miffed because the person AFTER me in the queue to collect tickets got row M! (But she deserved them.)

Celia Imrie was the lead in this last year at the Rose Theatre Kingston but had to leave half way through the run because of film commitments with Judi Dench - well we now know how that turned out!

I saw The Wizard of Oz last week and while it was enjoyable it wasn't as good as I expected it to be, which was I think largely due to the recent changing of the cast and my instant dislike for Russell Grant as the Wizard. I didn't know him but I Googled the leads before going and was so surprised to see this random person was cast. I didn't mind the over the top personality of the Wizard (which I assume to be more the writing than the actor ayway) but his "singing" was just terrible, easily the worst I've personally heard on a West End stage (so far). Sophie Evans was fine as Dorothy, though her voice wasn't overly powerful. I was certainly disappointed that I missed Michael Crawford and Danielle Hope in the roles by a mere week.

On a positive side: the Tin Man and Scarecrow were amazing (both their singing voices and the way their characters were portrayed), they truly stole the show for me and I could've happily watched just them two of the for the duration of the 2+ hours it lasted. I also liked how colourful the sets were, how sweet it all looked, and even the fake snow we were absolutely doused in (it was the glitter at RoA all over again!), however I am just a little too much in love with Rock of Ages, Ghost and Matilda and nothing else can seem to be quite as awesome at the moment.

Overall I still enjoyed it and glad I got to see the show, but happy I didn't p*y!

Just wait until you see Singing In The Rain!

Then your top 3 musicals may need to be revised! ;)
