I was really pushed for time yesterday seeing more films than I'd originally intended so got a bit out of step with my diet plans. Nothing too bad though. o/

Finally had "lunch" at 5.00 pm - b*ght a Tesco Express bacon and egg sarnie and a single banana. Didn't really want the banana after I'd eaten the sandwich but felt daft carrying it around so ended up eating that as well.

It was bizarre, I felt ridiculously annoyed with myself about the banana, far out of proportion with the actual "misdemeanour". I should have just binned it instead, but that seemed so wasteful. I'm obviously getting too blooming fixated with the diet and need to relax a bit more!!

Got home after seeing last film of the day still feeling pretty stuffed, so decided not to have the chilli salmon I'd planned, thinking that that would make up for the banana episode. However, was absolutely starving by midnight, so I had a pack of those dreadful chemically laden but surprisingly filling and OK tasting Aldi Bacon flavoured noodles.

Which brings me to today’s plans:

Breakfast - Earl Grey (no milk - no lemon) Orange melon/ green grapes.
Lunch - Loads of Salad leaves, celery, grated carrots, chickpeas, + whatever else looks like it would go when I examine the contents of the fridge.
Diner - Salmon Chilli and probably boiled rice or maybe proper egg thread noodles.
Supper - Absolutely not - it's weigh day tomorrow.

Noticed that I'm on a different (thinner) notch when fastening my jeans belt this morning. That's a good sign - Excited for tomorrow's weigh-in, now. :cross:

Does anyone know whether dieting brings on headaches? - the last couple of days I've had quite a few bad ones. Could I be dehydrated and just losing water rather than burning up any actual fat? I have tried to ensure that I drink plenty of fluids and eat regularly, but I have heard that if the body realises it's being starved it can decide to preserve energy levels by shutting down the metabolism!
Hmmm....need to research more.

Diane, that's why I came to this thread - I've put on 10lbs since the start of this year - it really can't continue. I'm sure that we can all help each other work towards our weight loss goals and have some fun too whilst doing it.
Diane65 wrote:Rawr-xoxo due to the excessive weight I will just have to dream about the Ben and Jerry's
I agree with Rawr's very sensible reply. We've got to have some treats to look forward to to incentivise our journeys otherwise they would be so unremittingly bleak we'd just abandon them. But it has got to be kept within reason.

How about working out the calorific value of you B + J treat but then calculate the extra amount of exercise that would be needed to cancel it out! So, eat the ice cream - but then go for say a walk or a swim. Simples! Result - Thighs and stomach in perfect harmony and the balance is once again restored!
valda wrote:I finally got the courage to get on the scale again and yep I've gained another 14 lbs, which is hardly surprising. As luck would have it, there's lots of birthdays at work in the next 2 weeks, plus my own. So I'm trying to ignore the cakes and will not be going to my friends birthday drinks on Friday :(

This time I'm really going to try and sort myself out ( yeah we've all heard that before  )
It's great that you feel that way Valda. That is exactly the same way as I do. I'm sure that we can all help each other here by mutual encouragement.

Seems a shame that you'll miss your friend's birthday bash - could you not go along and just have soft low calorie drinks.

:ClicheAlert: "The hardest step in any journey is the first one"

OK - it is a cliche - but it is one, because its true!

You've already taken that step (and a good few others) - you've realised something is amiss, you're here, your sharing your thoughts and you've got a tracker set up - so well done! We can all help and encourage each other now.
Beate wrote:......but does anyone have any thoughts on appropriate exercise? Can I count the hoovering I did yesterday?
I reckon any physical movement at all counts as exercise. Any effort be it gentle or hard, burns up some calories and works muscles so that potentially helps with fitness and weightloss. Be it hoovering, beating your clothes against a rock, gardening, walking around the shops, cycling, dancing, swiming - everything counts.

4 years ago I amazed myself by losing 3 stones in weight by dieting and doing simple exercises for 20 mins twice a day. Mind you the heart attack was quite a powerful incentive! 8O

Obviously, if you have a medical condition it's sensible to check with your doctor first before starting an exercise regime, but if you start off gently and then increase slowly as time goes by, you should find great benefit.

I did simple Arm lifts, Step-ups, push-offs, knee bends and marching on the spot for initialy 5 minutes a session, then increasing that to 20 min sessions over the days as I found they became easier. I did them at home and no special equipment was necessary - unless you count a chair!

Oh No - Sorry - I've got carried away again and posted for ever. Someone elses turn I think!!

But remember :nono: ... Frazles and Mars Bars can only help you to lose weight as part of a calorie controlled diet!!

Don't really need to lose much weight, just eat better and should I eat better I guess the weight will take care of itself.

Rawr-xoxo i will have that Ben and Jerrys as a treat as you say if I don't I could cheat.
Preston1990 I always get a headache for the first few days when I start to reducing my calorie intake even though I drink loads of water but its stopped now so hopefully yours will.
I was bad last night as a had a bag of popcorn instead of a meal last night but hopefully if its 500 calories or less I'm still on my 1200 calorie allowance :cross:
Today's meals are:
Special K
Ryvita, cottage cheese and a muller light yoghurt
Quorn cottage pie, veg and an apple
Then 100 calories spare so will have to decide later

Diane, Don't feel guilty about the pop-corn! Let me share a tip that my wife always used to employ when she was on her diet. Nomatter how inappropriate the food consumed seems, when challenged always respond "It's OK - it's Free on Green". No idea what it means and not sure if it somehow gives any beneficial effects, but it always seemed to comfort her. ;)

In all seriousness - I think I read somewhere that pop-corn was OK. o/

Well I'm just about to meet up with my pal for our NT walk excursion, but before he arrives let me just share the results of my first weeks weigh in. Like AK I too get weighed at the optimum time in the optimum conditions. LOL.

At 7:30 today I got weighed and .....Oh hang on .....is that the doorbell? ... hang on a minute I'll be back in a mo.

My meal 'plan' for today shall be!

30g Rice krispies multigrain and skimmed milk
No idea about lunch as im low on oven chips D: might try to find some new potatoes, maybe haddock, mushrooms, peas, if not ill have a rigatoni(i got ome more! :D)
Then dinner can be a chicken hotpot :)
Then for a treat ill have some ben n jerrys :)
What I find useful in particular with treats is, to limit what you have say 80/90g, but put it in a small bowl so it seems like a lot :)

Wouldn't work for everyone, as it depends what sort of food you take to the cinema - if any - but for me, going to lots of films limits both the amount and type of food I eat - so a day with 2 or 3 films is potentially quite healthy, as long as I don't go mad making up for it late at night when I get home. I do take simple food though: wholemeal rolls, fruit, water, etc and I don't like snacks of any type, let alone the kind sold (or given away!) in cinemas.

Popcorn is a great snack... unless it's covered in sugar / salt / butter etc etc. Make your own, don't cover it in anything - you can eat loads and continue feeling like a saint. Also, you'll be in good company: I remember reading Madonna snacks on plain popcorn.

The popcorn was purely time factor as within 15 minutes of getting in from work I was on my way to pick up akh43 and we did the double went to see American Reunion followed by going to see Back Street Boyys and NKOTB so no time to eat, we made both with about 2 mins to spare but I'm sure that the rushing will have burned off some calories.
