And well done on your weight loss Preston - so impressive! o/ I am in 8O and a wee bit jealous! :
Thanks for those kind words, a_p. And, can I just say - Welcome to the thread on behalf of everyone here. We are a friendly bunch and really try to achieve our targets whilst having a bit of a laugh too.

For future reference Diane65 my idea of "old" is my age plus 10 and that is of course on a "rolling basis" ;)

a_person wrote: Seems like you've replaced Mr G now! :

Well, I can't let that one go uncorrected. :nono: There is absolutely no way I would even presume to do such a thing. Please don't mistake my enthusiasm for the weightloss thread, for any in-depth knowledge about the subject. It's precisely because I lack real knowledge that I came here for Mr G's (and all the other Fmukers on here) advice.

He really is "The Man" but, I understand that because of preparations for his upcoming marathon, he doesn't get on the thread so often as he used to at the moment. He still finds the time to pop in regularly to sort us all out though. Top Man G! o/
a_person wrote: I really need to get that lazy ass of mine back into action... (I have started walking everywhere I can these days unless the distance is too far but cutting back on yummy fatty food is always the hard one for me. :tears: )

Although I recently lost half a stone but that wasn't a result of healthy eating.... but being ill on and off over a period of a month. :
Sounds to me like you have made a great start so far - why not continue to build on the exercise that you are now doing by trying to cut back just a little on some of your more outrageous food choices. You don't need to give everything you like up - just be a little restrained - You will notice the difference!

Look at Diane for example - and I know that she won't mind me saying this  Not many people on here know that she used to absolutely gorge herself on Cadbury's Creme Eggs several times a day. And... :shifty: I shouldn't be saying this....but she confided in me that she used to hold the record in the Clubs in Manchester for being able to fit the most "Burton's Wagon Wheels" in her mouth without breaking them, before scoffing them down in one go. 8O

All that is behind her now - OK she still has the occassional "Malteser binge" but Mr G has scolded her about it, and now she's trimmed down and is making good progress towards her target weight. And...I must say she seems much happier for it! :D

So come on a_p, we'd love to have you on board. Get weighed. Decide how much you'd like to lose, get yourself a weight tracker thing attached to your signature and make a start. There's loads of helpful people here and we can all succeed together. o/ :D

so how many servings then?

I've been dying for sausage and chips or Kentucky these past 2 days. When I venture to Westfield I invariable end up in the chippy or the chicken shops. So, I've been good. Went to Westfield today and all I had was a tiny little bit of flat bread with a few dips from The Real Greek (tasters outside the restaurant).

Both mornings I've had my 40g of Granola followed by a Diet Chef Soup for lunch.

I've also had some carrots and cherry tomatoes. For tea last night I had a Diet Chef Dhal dish, and some steamed green beans. This is the best weekend so far, I've had for ages.

I'm found a website called Mood Food which has lovely snacks, and stuff, all organic and ethically resourced.

Who knows? this may finally be my back to the proper me. :cross:

How frustrating especially when you are ready and raring to go.

I was on a course on Thursday and the NHS now recommend measuring waist to hip ratio as a means of measuring if your overweight as BMI fails if you have big muscles. Its recommended that men should be 0.95 0r below and women 0.8 or below. I was on an infection control course and it was taking in every single angle on it and the weight issue was associated with being more prone to fungal/yeast/bacterial infections that love warm moist environments to breed ie in skin folds etc , healthy diets boost your immune system.
