Re: Weight Watchers
Well I've walked off the Lardy Cake (and the monster bag of Maltesers which I didn't mention) and then some. If unpleasant smells put you off eating, I advise getting out in the countryside in peak slurry-spreading season, i.e. now! I was going to say that May must be the nicest-smelling month, with all the blossom, but that was easily overpowered today by the pong of pooh...

Thanks so much to Preston1990 for the brilliant Yakult link, what a handy brochure
I love reading different takes on healthy living getting ideas and inspiration so thank you so much.
Done my double lot of exercise and my legs are really tired but I think that I'm getting there with the arms, they are eventually getting a bit stronger so hopefully if I can complete the whole arm section without putting my arms down once by next weekend I will start using weights (she does on the DVD but I didn't want (more like couldn't) too early as it is tough enough to do them without) to add a bit of resistance (light ones to tone not heavy ones to build). How has everyone else been getting on with their exercise programmes? Well done MsThrifty with your walk in the countryside you are so disciplined

Re: Weight Watchers
Diane it sounds like you are really getting to grips now with your Lizzie DVD, and making some fantastic progress with your arm exercises. So well done for that!!
MsT - Nice to hear that you have got back out into the countryside walking again. Ahhh those healthy fresh country fragrances!
Thanks also to anakin for those wise words!!
I did my first walk from home yesterday as planned. Walked briskly (for me) for exactly 30 mins, noted where I'd got to, turned around and walked the same route home. Journey back took me 35 mins and involved one or two stops so I could fully appreciate the scenery (in reality I had to stop because I was so out of breath).
I've checked with Google maps - the distance per leg is 1.7 miles (or 3.4 miles there and back) making the average speed 3.4 mph on the outward journey.
Diane does her 2 mile brisk walk at 4.8 mph - she must be very fit compared to me and that's why I'm going to use her speed as my target goal. So I'll be aiming to build up to walking 2.4 miles in 30 mins on my outward journey.
I've noted where that extra 0.7 of a mile should take me to on my route and I'll be aiming to get closer to that location every time I do this walk. Whether I'll ever make it or not is debateable, and to be honest not in the least important, but it's good to have something specific to aim for.
I also managed my 35 min exercise bike session yesterday too, but ducked out of my rower session because I really felt like I'd done enough exercise for one day.
I ate 6 rolos last night - the first chocolate that I've had for over 4 weeks - Those 170 calories tasted fabulous!! Still plenty of time left until weigh-day to burn them off, so I'm not feeling guilty, ashamed or bothered in the least! I ate them because I deserved them!!
How's everyone else doing these days?
And.....If there's anyone watching from the sidelines out there but secretly wanting to join in - reveal yourself, make a post - there'll never be a better time - Summer's just around the corner. We can crack this together!

Thank you its the Tracy Anderson DVD that I do its someone else with the Lizzie onePreston1990 wrote:Diane it sounds like you are really getting to grips now with your Lizzie DVD, and making some fantastic progress with your arm exercises. So well done for that!!
I didn't know what speed I was walking at but I can only keep that up that speed for 2 miles at the moment so I now need to sustain it for 4 miles so that can be my aerobic goal, I too will start setting targets to improve on a weekly basis. You really are motivating me and I really appreciate your support and everyone else's you're all brilliant. Well done Preston1990 with your workouts you are doing amazing and doing the walk then the bike is loads of exercise, we certainly went for it yesterday.
Are you not having a treat day Preston? A few Rolo's is not much of a treat as I've already had my treat day this week my buttons Easter egg is still at the back of the cupboard and will be there for a few more weeks as I've got 2 meals out this week http://www.gustorestaurants.uk.com/menus/food-menu with friends from work and the carvery with OH, daughter and Mum so I will have to be healthy on one of them and coffee and cakes and another meal out next week
Love to hear from everyone else and anyone just reading please join in.
Menu of the day:
Smoothie with milk, strawberries and a banana (250 calories)
2 Wholemeal rolls (mini ones from M & S are gorgeous) ham salad sandwich, weight watchers yoghurt and a kiwi (300 calories)
Hot chicken salad with low calorie salad dressing with potato wedges - I do weigh my potatoes as I'm rubbish at guessing portion sizes (using spray oil with curry powder, garlic and salt) (400 calories)
Fruit salad with strawberries, kiwi and apples - no ice-cream as I haven't any left (100 calories)
Malt loaf with scraping of butter (150 calories)

Re: Weight Watchers
I am the guilty culprit with the Lizzie video, dont have a video set up at the moment so hence not using yet
I am also a lurker, mainly because I have gone a bit off track, still trying to be good, but fell off the wagon big time yesterday and daughter and I went out for lunch in Pizza Hut, only shared but 1 portion of garlic bread with cheese (2 slices each) 1 regular Italian margareitta between us (3 slices each) and shared the pudding of white chocolate and rasperry hot cookie with icecream
I did try and behave the rest of the evening as I couldnt face my tea so only had a go ahead bar, a Muller Light yoghurt and half a pack of strawberries, and hot drinks, for the rest of the evening. Hopefully today will be much better.
Not doing too well on the exercise front either, partly due to my bad feet and partly due to my laziness. I do wear a pedometer all the time and do an average of 10,000 to 13,000 steps a day, but little else
After the initial loss of 2lbs/3lbs, which I have still not found (which is good) I haven't lost any more (not surprising as not putting in enough effort) so hence not much posting from me
I am finding the thread inspiring with others achievements, just wish I could get into it more myself.

Re: Weight Watchers
I am not a great walker like some of you but enjoy getting out and about when the weather is good - which is not very often recently!! But yesterday went on the bus down to Portobello which is a seaside town not far from Edinburgh and had a good walk along the seafront and round all the different shops. I did stop and have a latte as it was rather cold but enjoyed the walk.
Today hubby and I took the car down to the seafront at South Queensferry (where the Forth Rail Bridge is) and had a good long walk down there and the weather is a lot warmer today. Washing and ironing now so that must use a few calories!!!
Today's menu - no calories counted as you know I am just watching my carb intake.
Bacon roll and cup of tea. (before walk)
Banana and a yoghurt - now I am home.
Tonight's meal - grilled haddock and cauliflower, broccoli, carrot and two small potatoes. (and a glass of chilled white wine
)
a few chopped walnuts and stick of celery which I'll eat while watching TV.
Two oatcakes with a scrape of butter and cup of tea before bed to keep my blood sugar level up.
Lots of water during the day diluted with more water!!!

Re: Weight Watchers
Sounds like a very healthy day meal wise and you are getting in your exercise with the walking. You are doing brilliant especially as you have to watch with your diabetes.
I only put my calories down so that I can keep a check of where I'm up to and I write down recipes from other people so that I can copy them as otherwise I end up having the same meals day in day out and then it gets boring. Now I'm thinking of getting in some oatcakes as a healthy snack but really I would love white chocolate and rasperry hot cookie with icecream from akh43's post but I will have to give it a miss
akh43 you do loads of steps anyway considering your feet hurt you still do it so well done
Just found this link and its brilliant for planning my walks http://www.mapmywalk.com/ I have been looking up routes as though I was in a car and having to do a detour to get the extra 1/2 mile. I must go slower when I'm going around a water park for some reason where I average 4 miles an hour whereas along a dull duel carriageway its 4.8 miles
I too must be admiring the scenery, both these are on the flat. If anyones in Manchester Chorlton water park is exactly 1 mile around the lake. Need to get some hills in my walks.
