Great to have you back, Mr G, and to hear the blow-by-blow account of the epic marathon. Tremendous achievement given the weather and the amount of practice you were able to have. Here's to the next one!

Brilliant achievement MrG you are certainly one inspirational man and I am so touched that it was our encouragement that helped to inspire you to finish. We are all so proud of you and I'm so happy to read about not matter what challenges you endured that through sheer determination you achieved your goal :cheer: :cheer:

We are all following your lead here and totally agree that Preston1990 would have challenged anyone to support you (note to self don't cross Preston :giggle: ) Ms Thrifty is one amazing supportive lady and not scary like Preston.

Menu of the day:
Granola, yoghurt, blueberries (280 calories) - I was meant to have a drizzle of honey on it but it was wholegrain mustard that I had spotted at the back of the cupboard not honey and that is a bit too challenging for my taste buds.
Garlic sausage sandwich on granary bread with rocket and tomatoes, weight watchers fromage frais and an apple. (350 calories)
Weight watchers cheese and onion quiche with salad and balsamic vinegar (350 calories) Pineapple and coconut yoghurt (150 calories)
100 calories to spare poss ice lolly depending on the weather.

I got up extra early and have done the arm section of my workout already and I will do a brisk walk to and from the cinema Fartlek style or whatever you call it when you have a break (I don't think that its meant to be 2 hours :shifty: )

Have a happy and healthy day everyone. o/

Well done Mr G!! o/ Fabulous achievement! It was a glorious, hot, sunny day here in Edinburgh and I would certainly not have liked to run in it. Several years ago I used to run in the Race for Life for Cancer Research around Arthur Seat and even in a mild day in June it was so hot. Lucky if I can run to catch a bus now! :noo:

So sorry I didn't manage to meet you as it was very last minute I heard of the arrangements and by that time i had other things planned. But now you know what a great place Edinburgh is we might see you here again sometime.

Weather very grey and dull here today so having some of my homemade lentil and bacon soup for lunch and two egg omelette with salad before going to SWATH tonight. Two oatcakes before bed. Had the same breakfast as you diane65. o/

Biggins, I love lentil soup!

I've always just used the canned stuff, which is nice, but your homemade lentil and bacon sounds fantastic! o/

Is it easy to make? Any chance you could post up a recipe for it on here - I'd love to have a try making it, especially as I actually have had a bag of those orange split lentily things in the cupboard for the past few years. ;) I've never been completely sure what you actually do with them - they need soaking don't they?

I'm assuming that your soup is based on these - it would be great to finally put them to some use! :D

It seems like an age since I shared my daily Menu thing. Here's what I've had/plan to have today:

Scary Preston's :p Menu.

1) Natural Yoghurt with handful of blueberries.

2) Sesame Bagel with salad leaves, cottage cheese and Applewood Ham (I've had applewood smoked cheese before but never ham - but it was reduced and therefore v cheap - just like me!)

3) Ice Cold Gazpacho Soup (again) - becoming a bit of a favourite with me on these hot summer days.

4) Taglietelle with mixed seafood probably in a fresh pesto sauce.

5) Toast and Pot of Tea (E.Grey) w/lemon slices

I've done a really short (10 mins - rather than my normal 25 min) rower session this morning at a slightly increased resistance setting, and have a 35 min exercise bike session planned for later this evening.

Tomorrow is the bicycle trip with a walk thrown in for good measure.

Diane, I see that you are walking to and from the cinema these days - how is that going?

It was nice to see Rainey and Ibaxx on the thread yesterday - It would be great to have them and any others that fancy it along on a regular basis!

How spooky 8O I too was just writing a post asking where you were Preston1990 and asking Biggins for her recipe as I also love lentil soup. Heading off for the cinema shortly and doing my brisk walk, poor akh43 has to sit next to me with my red face :noo: she's too lovely to ask me to move :D

Mmm, lentils - I love them! Bizarre as it may seem, I think they might be my favourite ingredient and they are so versatile. With OH being vegetarian, we eat a lot of them in our household but I still can't get enough. Rather hot weather for soup at present, however, though the temperature is dropping. Now a nice lentil and feta salad, say...

I'm sure I've lost some weight today without even trying, simply through having had a much-overdue hair cut - probably enough trimmings to make a wig!

I'm usually just a lurking reader on Weight Watchers (though I should be one of you and try to get fitter!) but I just want to add my congratulations to Mr Glass on his marathon achievement. Fantastic and amazed to hear that FMUKers kept you going. Who'd have thought?

I'm not trying to lose weight, ejwrank, but often write a little encouragement or my tuppence worth even when it's not requested, so feel free to do the same!

As ever, well done to everyone, especially MrG! A marathon in this heat sounds... well, I barely made it to the shop and back without overheating! Well done to anyone who is still managing exercise, especially outdoors!

Thanks, I really should join in here more it's great motivation, I do quite often lurk in here. I don't have much weight to lose, but need to really tone up and not gain any more weight..........lbaxx on the other hand should be barred from this thread because if she loses any weight she might disappear! :giggle:

Well done Mr G on the marathon, fantastic achievement!
Preferred Cinema's now Paignton or Exeter!

Well done Glassy, fantastic that you finished it with all that drama. :T The same sort of weather was here about two years ago and a lot of the runners were dropping like flies. Where is your sponsorship link Glassy??

Great to see you while you were up here. It was all very last minute Biggins, i was rushing about on Friday after work getting ready to go, i'd planned to email you back but ran out of time but i'm sure Glassy will be back and you'll meet him.

I've actually started losing weight at last and am now 13 stone, probably cause i've been ill but my exercising has gone by the wayside so i'll have to get toning myself up again, zumba's on holiday this week.

Great to see so many fmukers active on this thread, lots of good work and effort going on o/
