Preston, thanks for all the exercvise links, I've been doing the curl without the weights, it still has benefits o/
Well done! Like you walk plan, and yeah watch what you eat on holiday, have your treat but not excessively :)

Dont forget about mixing exercises, you dont want your body to be imbalanced!

Umm...today I am going to a friend's bbq. When eating out, the fatty stuff is in the sauses and condiments. Eating a burger is not so bad, just dont have too much ketchup or mustard etc in it. And while everyone else may have beer, wine, or fizzy drinks, you can have water or a very diluted squash. There always healthier option anywhere you go even if the healthiest option is not the most ideal. My treat day is tomorrow when I have my cricket match. So today I will make as best an effort to opt for the healthiest choices available :)

Just had a quick watch of that and it does look tough. I ended up walking for 5 hours none stop yesterday by default as got a bit lost but was good fun - remind me not to drink so much water when I'm in the middle of no where :noo: I'm ashamed to say as I got back so late my meals went a bit to pot - I didn't go over my 1200 calories but didn't have any salad or fruit with my meals

Menu of the day:
Smoothie with bananas and strawberries (250 calories)
Beans on toast and an apple (300 calories)
Brushetta (150 calories)
Hot beef salad (200 calories)
Strawberry whip, strawberries and shortbread (150 calories)
150 calories to spare o/

I will do my DVD today.

What's everyone else eating today? Have fun o/

Not weather conducive to exercise and I am still groggy from my late night at the theatre yesterday - but that's exactly when I do need to go out, to wake myself up and speed up my metabolic rate. So I've done a token walk with my poles, if not the usual distance. OH would easily have undone all my good work as his proposed dinner menu was fish in cream sauce, followed by cheesecake made with cream - aargh! I've suggested that he make a more virtuous version of the sauce (e.g with sour cream or half-fat creme fraiche) and said otherwise I will skip that part.

love your calorie counting, Diane...what about veggies?...not seeing much of those ;) i see lots of fruits in one day there, you can substitute some for veggies which have very minimal calories then add more protein without going over your calorie budget. remember its not just about calorie counting but also a good balance in nutrition, protein, carbs and good fat :) just a pointer for forward progression, you doing great. o/ o/

my cricket cancelled due to the rain today so will have a run to cinema today :)

I should have put that I'm having in my salad loads of mixed leaves, onion, tomatoes (I know its really a fruit), red and green peppers, mushrooms and cucumber. Point taken re amount of fruit it was what I had prepared for last night for after dinner but as I got lost on my walk yesterday - I ended up having lunch at 4.30pm as apart from my all bran and banana at 7.30am I had only had a cereal bar and water to eat and drink so ended up having my quiche at 9pm with no fruit or veg  I have been checking back on my menus over the last week and you are so right re my vegs, I keep on having salad so need to vary it with some root veg etc I try and balance it out throughout the day but it is only when someone else looks at eat you see the error of your ways. I do need to cut down on my fruit so will try to stick to 2-3 portions a day and up the veg.

I've had a good workout today dismantling a bed to take to the tip I thought that it would fit in my mothers car but oh no :noo: it had been nailed together so it was brute force with a hammer and chisel to separate it so that it would fit in (it took over an hour but I loved it, I love doing DIY - I think that I should have been a man ;) ) so my arms have had a good workout and luckily the rain must put people off going to the tip so I did 2 runs there and no queue o/ Will be doing my workout shortly, I may do it in my daughter's bedroom as it has no bed in it so very spacious until the new bed arrives.

Oh good workout, and some running cardio too :) I think you sound a better a DIY person than me, can you do my wallpaper in my home office room? :P ....its half done, and I'm getting fed up! I can calculate the measurements, cut the paper, slap on the glue, then when I get up that ladder, I suddenly feel like Inspector Cleuseau, I've destroyed a whole roll worth of paper already and I just cant get those damn strips to smooth out and line up properly, I obviously dont have a knack for this :( I'm good at other DIY stuff such as woodwork, repairing/building computers and electronics but wallpapering is flipping evil. Anyway, good stuff with the DIY, but be careful not to do anything repetitive for too long. Always makes sure you give your wrists and limbs frequent rests and loosening up, otherwise you can develop strain injuries.

Oh thats great control and discpline, Ms Thrifty. Your OH would soon get the idea...well hopefully, I can understand how he might think depriving you of desert sounds cruel ;)

That's one thing I've never done but akh43 is brilliant at wallpapering so we'll come as a team as I should learn how to do it -yet another challenge which is good o/ I've only got one more bed to replace but as mine is just a mattress, headboard and a divan base with drawers it won't be too much of a workout as taking off a headboard, removing 4 drawers and unscrewing the base will probably take 10 minutes so won't be too hard but that one doesn't arrive until July. o/ I should go into the removal business as I love going to the tip getting rid of things

Menu of the day:
Yoghurt, granola and blueberries (280 calories)
2 poached eggs on a slice of granary loaf (250 calories) an apple (50 calories)
Vegetable chilli with celery, carrots, green beans, black eyed peas, kidney beans, tinned tomatoes and wholemeal rice (400 calories) Del Monte pineapple ice lolly (it counts as one of your five a day- 100 calories)
100 calories to spare

MrGlass I can already see that I'm not having any veg with my first 2 meals so I will need to address that - I could have rocket and tomatoes as a snack - anyone who knows me will know that I can eat a bag of rocket like everyone else eats a bag of crisps.

I will do my exercise DVD (my arms are eventually developing some shape - obviously not like J Lo but one day  ) and a 4 mile walk today.

Where has everyone else disappeared to over the bank holiday?

Just back in from a long walk down at the foreshore at Cramond as it is a lovely day. Someone famous ran along the coastline there not so long ago. ;) I wasn't as energetic as MrG but it is a nice scenic walk (if you don't get run over by all the folk on bikes!)

Had granola, semi skimmed milk and chopped banana and a cup of tea this morning. Plate of soup in the next half hour with a couple of flatbreads before going into the town shopping. Chicken and avocado salad tonight followed by a yoghurt. Chopped celery and a few walnuts tonight while watching the Jubilee concert. Plenty of water but not too much before I walk around the town!!! :p

Have a good day everyone.
