Hi Everyone,

I decided that I would make a vegetable curry yesterday to use up some of the cheap vegetables I had b*ght a while ago, but were now becoming a bit "marginal". I just used my normal method of dicing a large onion up and frying that in a little vegetable oil with chopped garlic and chilli peppers. Then bunged in a load of Madras curry powder and added 1 litre of chicken stock, peeled and sliced potatoes, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, green beans, peppers.

At this point I halted the procedure and transferred everything into a bigger pan - cause I've been caught out like that before, and I could see I was going to get into that annoying and dreaded boiling over scenario ;).

Having made more room, I added a whole mango 8O (minus the stone and peel obviously) and three cans of plum tomatoes. Simmered the whole thing for half an hour or so, tasted, added more curry powder and some paprika and some chilli flakes. Cooked for a bit longer.

Ended up with loads of it o/ - needless to say, as seems to be the tradition in this household, no-one else would even try it :wall: I had 3   large portions of the stuff yesterday with plain boiled pillau rice and transferred the rest of it into 5 of those microwaveable, 2 portion sized, 600ml soup cartons that my Gazpacho comes in. These are now in the freezer for future meals.

Decide that I would get weighed this morning to see how things were progressing, and fearing the worst after yesterday's curry binge.....And ....... I don't want to even talk about the biscuits I had at bedtime :tears:
Needless to say the scales revealed that I was 3 pounds heavier than when I got weighed on Wednesday. :shifty: Not a good situation, and very reminiscent of the week before last!!

I immediately donned a pair of comedy shorts from my collection, and took the mountain bike out for a damp 5.75 mile ride on my "round the doors" course. I did it in 29 minutes - a new record for me! Couldn't even speak to my neighbour, who wished me a cheery good morning when I pedalled back into my drive, because I was sooo out of breath. I just raised my hand feebly, dumped the bike on the path, went straight inside on my wobbly jelly-like legs and lay down on the bed to recover some semblance of normality.

I will be doing some more exercises and less eating today, to try and claw that 3 pounds back, and hopefully more, before Wednesday weigh day............

Today's Menu:

1) Black Coffee - Toasted oat flake roll with rocket and smoked salmon.

2 + 4 - split into two sittings) Salad: Assorted salad leaves, red green yellow peppers, grated celeriac and carrots, sliced Jersey Royal potatoes, black and green olives, raw broccoli florets, cherry tomatoes, pesto.

3) Fresh seared tuna steak with noodles and sweet chilli sauce.

5) Earl Grey Tea with lemon slices and toast and a little mystery pate (once I've b*ght some later on today)

Exercises:

25 minutes on the rowing machine in front of the telly re-watching The Prisoner on DVD.

Also:

May try and get out on the bike again later on today for another 5.75 mile round the doors session.

Failing that will do a 20 minute dual-action exercise bike session.

Be good everyone and remember to drink plenty of water.

Why not take a leaf out of Havingascreen's book, and try and find time to fit a walk in sometime today if you can. o/

......... or......... get that old bike out of the shed and go for a ride - It's National Bike Week this week apparently, so there couldn't be a more appropriate time for it. :D

Had rice krispiemultigrain and skimmed milk, and 2 apples this morning.
For lunch I treated my dad to lunch at handmade burger Co.
I had a smokey bbq burger with chips as a side which we shared.
Got to the cinema to see prometheus again and he b*ght me a Ben n jerrys core sundae, I had 1 scoop of raspberry brownie, baked alaska and caramel chew chew, then caramel sauce and chocolate bits and polar bears.
So i'm battening down the hatches this week, no more meals planned till my birthday now!
Starting running tomorrow, going.to.use my bfs treadmill, then Tuesday and Wednesday I'll be running round my.block, got my iPod armband today in anticipation!
Going to try and write a food diary this week of absolutely everything just to get an idea where I can make improvement in my dirt, wish me luck D:

this is a really good idea, rawr ... but you have to be totally honest (just keep it hidden from everyone else!!) ... i've done this in the past (and still do occasionally) and you end up being 'good', because it scares and shames you, once you see exactly how much you devour in a day!!! on good days, leave it lying around!!

How did the walk go havingascreen? Preston1990 you don't have to punish yourself when you go off the rails a bit :nono: exercising until you have no breadth left in your body is pure torture= poor you :bighug:
I know what its like rawr_xoxo with too much socialising - its my downfall  but you do loads of exercise to compensate for it.

My menu of the day as it was my treat day was nigh on impossible to eat everything on it - it was only 1500 calories but as I had so much veg/ low calorie food on it - I was so stuffed that I couldn't/ didn't even bother to cook my pasta or do my bananas and custard - I had a bowl of strawberries instead so even though I had my chocolate egg I have still come in under 1200 calories for my treat day  I was really hungry on Thursday and Friday in the morning and would have killed for the extra 300 calories. I will have to look back on my meals as I have done my exercise as usual and I'm not hormonal so its got to be my breakfasts that didn't fill me up or could be I have a later breakfast at weekends hence not as long to go (can't I ramble :giggle: )

I have got the Telegraph walking DVD today thanks to Tilly's post and Jordsmum's reminder - shame I didn't read it properly as there was a booklet that you were meant to get with it on Saturday but I just got the DVD so I'll just have to get the exercise tips without the dietary tips (I just copy everyone else's meal plans on here)

Now I, too, can claim to be a cyclist, albeit a short-lived one and not in Preston's league: OH and I (with much nudging from me) rented bikes for our week away and I practically lived in the saddle, which was great in itself and made a refreshing change from walking. Lovely to have the breeze so as not to get too hot and to be able to get around much faster. I'd love to know how many miles I clocked up and wish it were safe to cycle at home so it could be more than a holiday activity.

Only downside is that my back seems to be stuck in cycling mode so now I need the osteopath to unjam me...

Can someone please tell me - what is the amount of calories per day a woman should have if wanting to lose weight? Thanks :)

And that's the food I couldn't eat - I must have been stuffed to say no to that 8O

Well done MsThrifty with all the cycling - hope that you had a lovely holiday (where did you go?) and welcome back o/

I aim for 1200 calories 6 days a week and have 1500 calories on my treat day, I was 2 stone overweight and have lost a stone in 7 weeks. I also do a body conditioning DVD 4 times a week and at least 3 lots of 4 miles a week with a couple of 2 mile walks in between - I do work full time (40 hours) in a sedentary job so need to get my body moving. This is purely what works for me and if you want to join this thread it would be lovely to have you on board o/ It depends on how active you are and how much weight you need to lose (MrGlass is the fitness expert on hear so he will add his bit).

Menu of the day:
Peanut butter on a bread roll and a black coffee (300 calories - there was more calories in the scraping of peanut butter (160 calories in 25gm) than in my roll (140 calories) 8O )
Ham salad sandwich, weight watchers yoghurt and a kiwi (350 calories)
Wholewheat pasta with a weight watchers sauce (250 calories) with a green salad with low calorie dressing (50 calories)
Bananas and weight watchers custard (150 calories)
The last 2 is from yesterday's menu as couldn't fit any more food in stomach.
Possibly a Cadbury's options (50 calories) or may have a large banana with the custard to make up my 1200 calories.

I will do a 4 mile walk this evening either before or after my riveting meeting tonight when everyone else is having a fabulous time one mile down the road watching Spiderman (I'm not jealous just dedicated to my job :tears: )

Looking forward to hearing everyone's agendas for the day. Have fun o/

Thanks very much for your advice :) I've been quite downhearted about my weight recently...I've gone from being a size 14 (12st) to a 16/18 (14 & a half st) in just 2 years. I used to work full time as a music teacher (a very active job!!), & going to the gym 3 times a week (swimming, cross trainer, treadmill...) to only being able to work 2 days a week (same job) & struggling to exercise because of pain. (I had an injury in June 2010, wrist fracture which has now developed into Fibromyalgia). I've been told by doctors that losing weight could help my pain / condition, but cos I'm not able to do much exercise (apart from swimming once a week/fortnight when I feel up to it), I'm finding the weight hard to shift!! I'm hoping that, if I cut down my calorie intake, I might be able to lose weight that way?!....
