I decided that I would make a vegetable curry yesterday to use up some of the cheap vegetables I had b*ght a while ago, but were now becoming a bit "marginal". I just used my normal method of dicing a large onion up and frying that in a little vegetable oil with chopped garlic and chilli peppers. Then bunged in a load of Madras curry powder and added 1 litre of chicken stock, peeled and sliced potatoes, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, green beans, peppers.
At this point I halted the procedure and transferred everything into a bigger pan - cause I've been caught out like that before, and I could see I was going to get into that annoying and dreaded boiling over scenario
Having made more room, I added a whole mango
Ended up with loads of it
Decide that I would get weighed this morning to see how things were progressing, and fearing the worst after yesterday's curry binge.....And ....... I don't want to even talk about the biscuits I had at bedtime
Needless to say the scales revealed that I was 3 pounds heavier than when I got weighed on Wednesday.
I immediately donned a pair of comedy shorts from my collection, and took the mountain bike out for a damp 5.75 mile ride on my "round the doors" course. I did it in 29 minutes - a new record for me! Couldn't even speak to my neighbour, who wished me a cheery good morning when I pedalled back into my drive, because I was sooo out of breath. I just raised my hand feebly, dumped the bike on the path, went straight inside on my wobbly jelly-like legs and lay down on the bed to recover some semblance of normality.
I will be doing some more exercises and less eating today, to try and claw that 3 pounds back, and hopefully more, before Wednesday weigh day............
Today's Menu:
1) Black Coffee - Toasted oat flake roll with rocket and smoked salmon.
2 + 4 - split into two sittings) Salad: Assorted salad leaves, red green yellow peppers, grated celeriac and carrots, sliced Jersey Royal potatoes, black and green olives, raw broccoli florets, cherry tomatoes, pesto.
3) Fresh seared tuna steak with noodles and sweet chilli sauce.
5) Earl Grey Tea with lemon slices and toast and a little mystery pate (once I've b*ght some later on today)
Exercises:
25 minutes on the rowing machine in front of the telly re-watching The Prisoner on DVD.
Also:
May try and get out on the bike again later on today for another 5.75 mile round the doors session.
Failing that will do a 20 minute dual-action exercise bike session.
Be good everyone and remember to drink plenty of water.
Why not take a leaf out of Havingascreen's book, and try and find time to fit a walk in sometime today if you can.
......... or......... get that old bike out of the shed and go for a ride - It's National Bike Week this week apparently, so there couldn't be a more appropriate time for it.
