I think they missed an opportunity to have titled it: The Lord of the Rings cast that had not come to past :P

ha! Stuart Townsend was the original Aragorn, if I remember correctly.He left the set(thougbh wiki says something vague about 'not working enough'). Day-Lewis would have been a sound replacement, IMHO and Neeson would be a better Boromir than Bean. Jake could manage a hobbit.

Not sure about some of the other near misses though. Crowe, err..no. Cage and Diesel, hell no.

Patrick Stewart is another matter. If he was not offered/asked for the role of Denethor then they really lost out. He's be a fine manic as long as he didnt try too sound to theatrical. Possibly they wanted to avoid recreating the X-Men rivalry.
