Re: Help: What's the best horror film?
I don't find any one of the films I mentioned scary just listed the basics aha, I forgot chucky! That freaked me out when I was younger!
Saw is more psychological and gore as opposed to scary :/
I would say house of wax purely cause everyone loves Paris Hilton dying
The hills have eyes? More creepy than scary :/
One completely freaky I'd mention is the cell. Got banned it was that bad, and several people had heart attacks watching it, if that interests you.

Oh God, House of Wax is one of the worst films I've ever seen. Why did you do that to me Jared, whyyyyy?rawr_xoxo wrote:I don't find any one of the films I mentioned scary just listed the basics aha, I forgot chucky! That freaked me out when I was younger!

Re: Help: What's the best horror film?
You should watch the British film Nine Lives then if you want to see her get killed as she dies right at the beginning.
On second thoughts don't watch it as it's awful. It was the opening film at Frightfest back in 2002 when it was held at the Prince Charles Cinema. Felt a bit sorry for the director who was there as everyone spent the whole film laughing at it.

Re: Help: What's the best horror film?
Horror is probably my strongest genre, I've seen a lot that are a bit leftfield or not so mainstream that are genuinely scary...my picks are:
-Cube
-Martyrs (French subtitled)
-Frontiers (French subtitled)
-Audition (Japanese subtitled)

Re: Help: What's the best horror film?
There has already been a thread where everyone gave their favourite horror films, it was also a poll vote thread:
http://www.fmuk.org.uk/forum/viewtopic. ... r&start=10
I link to page 2 because it starts with my personal top 10
Might be worth merging the two threads.

My personal favourite is The Thing - not the 2011 remake but the original John Carpenter classic. Of course, you'd need to be 12 (and living in the '80s) to fully enjoy it. By today's standards it's quite tame, but still utterly brilliant.

Re: Help: What's the best horror film?
Probably the best scary horror films are not the ones with lots of blood and gore but those with 'suggestive' horror or psychological horror. Those that make you wonder if humans really are capable of such acts... or that a human could've even thought these up (in the case of a book or movie script/screenplay).
The one that gives me nightmares is a sci-fi horror called Event Horizon.
Don't want to be watching that one my own in the dark on a chilly winters evening.
