Er.................oops! 8O

A cinema full of children waiting to see 'Madagascar 3' were shown supernatural horror film 'Paranormal Activity 4' by accident.

Shocked families at Nottingham's Cineworld had to rush their children out of the auditorium as they realised that the wrong film was being projected.
But not before a scene at the very start of the film - featuring a bloodied female corpse being thrown at the camera – upset children as young as five, among around 25 families watching.

Natasha Lewis of Bulwell in Nottingham, who took her eight-year-old son Dylan to the screening, said: “They started playing the movie and I thought - this doesn't look right. And then I recognised the opening sequence as a flash back to the first movie, which I saw a couple of years ago.

“It opens on the most terrifying scene in the first film - where a body shoots full pelt towards the camera. It's enough to make grown men jump, so you can imagine the terror in these young faces.

“Everybody just scrambled for the exits, all you could hear were children crying and screaming. Everyone was very upset.

“I've watched a few horror films in my time but the 'Paranormal Activity' films are the scariest since 'The Exorcist'.

“It was only about two minutes worth of the film but it was enough to scar them for life. There were parents and kids in there, including some children who were younger than Dylan.

“The cinema needs to check the film before sending everyone in so they don't make this mistake again. I'm disgusted about it, mistakes like this simply should not happen.”

A spokesperson for Cineworld said: “We have investigated the incident and can confirm that this was a technical error with the projector and apologise sincerely to the families.

“All customers who were affected by the incident were offered refunds and complimentary tickets. We also invited customers to watch the screening of Madagascar 3 half an hour later.

“We take matters such as this very seriously and are currently working with technicians to ensure this does not happen again.”

For those lucky enough to get SFF tickets for Stitches tonight at Vue Leic Sq, there will be a Q & A with Ross Noble after the film has been shown and the event will be finishing at 9.50pm.

I so nearly booked tickets for this earlier today @ £15 each on the Vue website! :D

Carla's Song (1996)

Ken Loach will be joining us us for this charity screening to benefit Cine Esteli, an endangered single-screen historic cinema in Esteli, Nicaragua.

We are delighted to present this rare showing of Ken Loach's Nicaraguan-set film CARLA'S SONG, starring Robert Carlyle, Oyanka Cabezas and Scott Glenn and filmed on location in Esteli.

When a Glasweigian bus driver (Carlyle) gets involved with a Nicaraguan refugee, he ends up travelling into the heart of a revolutionary war. The object of his affection, Carla (Cabezas), is a refugee from Nicaragua. When he is alerted to her suicidal tendencies, he persuades her to return to Central America with him so that she can confront the ghosts of her past.

The film was the first collaboration between Ken Loach and the writer Paul Laverty (LOOKING FOR ERIC, THE ANGELS' SHARE), a former human rights lawyer in Nicaragua

Vue customers hit by double Skyfall charge

Cinema-goers ended up p*ying more than once for their tickets as demand to see the new James Bond film Skyfall caused Vue’s website to crash at the weekend.

While some struggled to get through the booking process on the cinema's website, customers who did were told their payments had not been successful causing many to try numerous times only to find they had been charged on each occasion.

People left out of pocket were then confronted with the prospect of being kept on hold for more than an hour as Vue's 10p per minute helpline was overwhelmed with calls from angry customers wanting to get a refund.

Skyfall causes downfall of Vue’s website

The problems started on Friday and continued intermittently over the course of the weekend.

Vue said it had anticipated and prepared for a large volume of online bookings at the weekend, due to the opening of Skyfall, but its systems could not cope with 'unprecedented demand'.

A spokesman said: 'Traffic to the website was the highest we have ever experienced, approximately exceeding our previous records by an additional 10%. This resulted in technical difficulties with the online booking system.

'Measures have been put in place to mitigate the issue by reducing the availability of online bookings. This should prevent similar issues until the back end systems can be upgraded.'

Vue, which spent most of yesterday contacting people who had contacted them via Twitter over the weekend, estimates that 2% of its customers have been affected, but told us it will refund all duplicate bookings.

How to get a refund at Vue

Customers are being advised to contact Vue by calling its customer service line on 08712 240 240 between 9am and 10pm any day of the week. Where possible, customers are advised to call outside of peak hours in order to experience a shorter queue time.

If you were charged for duplicate tickets, Vue said it will provide a refund as long as the tickets have not been used.

Meanwhile, Vue is looking into issues that caused some customers calling the helpline being moved backwards in its queuing system.
