The acting was good (although they mucked up twice on lines). The best performance was from Samantha Siddal who played Mandy Macguire in 'Shameless'. At times, the scenes reminded me of my own family life!! We had good seats at the front. Behind us was a young family with a baby in arms, who unfortunately cried quite a bit. I'm sure it must've put the actors off. The baby was breastfed too during the performance (this was noisier than the crying!!) .. and if that wasn't annoying enough, the family then insisted on zipping a bag open and shut, open and shut, to get sweets out of THE most noisiest bag EVER!!!
Did they not make a pre-show announcement to request that babies are switched off or put on silent?

Just got back from the Shakespeare double bill.

Pretty rubbish all told, especially the second half. The first half was alright, but pretty much ruined by someone's phone loudly ringing FIVE times. Why on earth couldn't they turn it off? Everyone was grumbling, the actors were clearly pissed off. Bit of a waste of time. Theatre was only half full at the start, and then maybe a third more left at the halfway point.

We went to see Uncle Vanya at the Vaudeville last night. It was dreadfully boring and the acting was wooden and uninspiring. We left at the interval and noticed that we weren't the only ones to do so!

Haha, no you weren't, we did the same! Admittedly I only went to see it for Anna Friel (I'm a big Pushing Daisies fan and this was my two degrees of separation to Lee Pace...) but while I didn't think the acting could be faulted, the story was indeed incredibly boring with only a handful of forced chuckles instead of the comical show we were promised. Disappointing. 4/10

Good grief -- did you really think Chekhov would be comical? I think numbers of people didn't realise what they were in for and left at the interval. We know the play and we thought the performances were good although I though Anna Friel was bit unconvincing. It is a very depressing play and even after seeing it in a number of productions we always wonder just why the characters are so miserable! Comedy it could never claim to be!

I admit I was thrown off by the fact it was Chekov, but then the flyer specifically stated it's a comedy with humour and wit

This autumn Ken Stott, Anna Friel and Sam West are united together on stage for the first time in one of Anton Chekhov's undisputed masterpieces, UNCLE VANYA. Adapted by Christopher Hampton, UNCLE VANYA uniquely blends sparkling wit and earthy humour to brilliant comic effect.
