Saw this tonight at Surrey Quays. I loved the ending. Wasn't expecting that at all. I'm still in two minds as to which story to believe! I'd like to think the original story is the correct one, because anything is possible ....

Saw this in Braehead tonight. Only about 75% full.
I agree with many of the earlier comments about the length of the film . . . it was just too long in the boat!
Did I enjoy it? Yes though would not rave about it. Story was engaging though the lack of characters did make time go rather slowly!

Three generations of my family watched this together last night at Braehead.... not many movies are suitable for all of us to watch together. (There were small children and adults of all ages at the screening).

Reactions to film as follows:

Teenager: " Awesome movie, loved it"

Octogenarian: "I wasn't really looking forward to it and I'm not sure I really understood it all, but it's one of the best movies I have ever seen"!

Grandma: "Hated the book, thought the movie was brilliant. May need to try reading the book again".

Me : Read the book for book club, did all the discussion bit and tried to delve into different meanings from it. Not all of that translates into the film, but having said that the film is brilliant and if it HAD delved into all the religious connotations that were in the book, then I really don't think the movie would have been as watchable as it is. Did discuss a few of the thoughts from the book with the others after and they agreed that they would not have thought about those aspects as they had not read the book. The film is great as a stand alone film and if you have read the book or not it really doesn't matter.

Thoroughly thoroughly enjoyed the movie. 2 hours was not too long. I would definately recommend this movie to anyone and everyone... in fact I have already done so at work today! A great family movie for the festive season.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Loved the book. Loved the film. Loved the 3D (first 3D film I've ever been able to say that). Full of love at the moment!
Merry Christmas.

I really want to see this again after writing about it. I may be underrating it, slightly here, but either way, it's a must-see.

"Just seen the Life of Pi in 3.1412 - D" :D

I can't take credit for this, it was a tweet by Peter Serafinowicz.

Enjoyed 2nd viewing of this again this morning. Thankfully Odeon Kingston showed it in its proper ratio this time. The last time, a couple of weeks ago the top and bottom of screen was cut off meaning missing subtitles at bottom and tops of heads missing. Nice to see the full picture this time. An essential for a film that relies on its gorgeous visuals.

Random fact about Life of Pi: It's the 2nd film this year in which the actor Irrfan Khan has said the name Richard Parker. This and The Amazing Spider-man (one's a tiger, the other is Peter Parker's dad). What are the odds?

This is still visually stunning but I can't improve my rating. It's definitely the last time I want to see this. This time I was the one dropping off at the end, resting my head on OH's shoulder!

Also, WIQ were disorganised at usual. They let us into the entrance lobby at 10am but declared that they weren't actually open yet and we would have to wait downstairs until 10.30am. To which I replied that that's the starting time of the film. "Er, well, it won't start straight away." Luckily, someone decided to let us up at 10.15am then so we had time to find seats etc. It got very full and of course a plethora of latecomers arrived just when it started, totally obscuring the view of the screen. Numpties. Also, there were noisy children in the audience and an equally noisy family to my right, commenting everything. The children annoyed me most though - if they talk or cry, shut them up or take them out as they clearly don't enjoy the movie!

good on a 2nd viewing but the epilogue again felt like a stretch (though the story deserved a proper epilogue, it was that good).

Impressed by the Sharma lad's acting and I was last time unnecessarily critical of the CGI which was pretty awesome all the way through - the only bit that looked false was Richard Parker's 'departure' when the CGI looked slightly unreal and almost nearly for a few seconds stop-motion- perhaps that was the intention, to give that scene a different quality to the rest of the very fluid, realistic animal scenes.

Visuals deserve a really big screen so I was a little dissappointed that we got a smaller screen at Kingston this time. I will probably catch it again if it gets put up on the big Vue Extreme screens.

And neg for the DUMB KID who wanted to wander round mumbling, dancing and rocking chairs as if he was trying to annoy an invisible Simon Cowell in front of him. Its the mums fault really, she didnt seem to respond.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?
